It's certainly never dull when these teams get pissed off at each other.

Home and Home should bring out the worst in both clubs. Over/under on games Neal will be suspended after sunday?

Listen, if you get 4 full swings at a guy with his back turned and you "might have" landed one, it's time to retire those gloves.

Zero games after a flying elbow delivered from the bench boards. It will be history's biggest outrage.

It would be ideal, but I agree he has to stop taking penalties, especially late ones. He isn't winning board battles the way you would like to see either. He seems unsure of what to do sometimes when he gets the puck down low in his own zone and ends up holding onto it too long and often losing possession. He would be better served rifling the puck off the glass and taking an icing. You can see the talent though, it's there. I think he just needs to make better, faster decisions with the puck in his own end.

I don't want to compare him to Mattaa, but the poise shown with the puck in their own zone is night and day between those two.

Then again, I heart Mattaa, he's been unbelievable.

Was Despress the one who took the puck danger close in front of Fleury last night? I felt like there were several passes in the D zone through the blue paint.

That's the only fight Adams ever won.

Having a 5 punch head start before the other guys turns around always helps.

I think you have to mark the win a disqualification for hair pulling.

You never know. If you would have told me Caps, desperate for points to scratch back into the playoff would have played us on back/back with zero fights and barely a scrum, I would have looked at you cross eyed.

Good read on what a 3pt system would look like. Im in favor of it.

This makes more sense to me:

3 points for a regulation or overtime win, no points for an overtime loss, and 2 point/1 point for a shootout win/loss.

I'm okay with the idea that a shootout win should be worth less, but I think overtime should still come with the same reward as a regulation win.

I think that the problem with this (and the one in the link), is with that safety loser point there for just getting to the shoot out, we'd see more conservative play in OT... sort of like we see now late in the 3rd.

Hartnellmania will run wild this weekend

(I wanted to post the gif of Hartnell doing the Hulk Hogan thing, but it's 10 MB, I don't want to slow down Mr. Wilson's thread for anybody on a Commodore 64)

The loser point in a 3 point system(link) or the other one proposed in the previous post at least gets each game back to being worth the same # of points. Eliminating the loser point, IMO, eliminates the need for a multi-point system--at that point wins regardless of reg/overtime/shootout are worth X(doesnt much matter if it is 1, 2, or 3 so long as it is the same). Under that assumption, losses are worth 0 whether they occur in reg/overtime/shootout. I just want to see any system where the number of points in play each game is the same. The current system of some games being worth 2 and some being worth 3(2 to OT winner/ 1 to OT loser) has to go.

not unhappy with either goc or stempy's acquisition. thought that kunitz was out after that slide last night so that was fortunate he was ok. still concerned about the D when playing more desparate teams. orpik and despres inconsistent play, potential over use rolling almost 3 lines, and some of the minutes some of the players are playing every night.

while the caps push the pens, its the bruins, leafs, flyers that frustrate the pens. doesnt matter about the blues, ducks or sharks if they cant battle through their division to be in the ECF. will be an interesting stretch this month.

Yeah, he skated one right next to Fleury and tried to go through two Cap forecheckers.

But he still deserves his spot...

HA right, I think he almost has a massive give away on the front door. You learn that in Squirts! But yeah he deserves his spot.

According to Eklund, the Pens were never close to Kesler.

That was a rough moment but aside from that he's been very steady as of late. Carried the biscuit well. We need a lot of that right now. Clearly we can't afford to sit him and I think that he's going to keep improving. He's even gotten a bit more physical along the boards when able. Very satisfied with his effort.
