maybe but i'd say top 10 - ob18
Seems to be making a Drouin-like move up the rankings. |

Think there's an outside chance that Ehlers could end up being in the coversation for top-3 pick? - Tomahawk
I could see that happening. He has tremendous upside. |

So if he never plays well for the Flyers, will it be a bad signing or just bad luck because the back injury? - PhillySportsGuy
If he never gets his game back and is not effective from this point on, it will go on the ledger as a bad move, of course. Although If it turns out that his back injury turns chronic and that's why it doesn't work out, I won't criticize the GM for something that he can't control.

I think it will depend on what the team's needs and wants are. |

From ESPN, on Alex Chiasson -
Chiasson was shaken up after teammate Rich Peverley collapsed during a game on Monday, and was taken to a hospital and later released, according to the Dallas Morning News. He will not join the team on the road trip.
Damn. Bill, do you have any info on this? Anxiety maybe? - tangent_man
I'm no doctor, but I'll weigh in on this.
I watched that video about 7 times. Why? Not because it was "like a trainwreck". It's not because I couldn't look away from a disaster. It was because it showed raw, HUMAN emotion. It was mesmerizing because it was so touching to me, in an upside down kind of way. I'll never forget it seeing his friends and teammates (also some Blue Jackets) frantically slamming the boards, screaming, and jumping over the boards in panic to stop the game. This emotionally shook me to tears at one point- just taking in the entire situation and seeing these people acting the way they did.
I think, with my mindset, I certainly can understand why Chiasson had issues after the fact. I sat there horrified and just saying "oh my god" until I teared up. That was through a computer screen, looking at someone I've never met and will never meet in my life.
Chiasson is a guy that has developed what I assume is a close friendship with Rich, and witnessed the incident first hand. Hearing he was impacted in such a way comes as no surprised to me, the way I'm looking at it. |

Will we ever really know if his back injury played a huge role in his decline? No we won't. I look forward to this argument continuing. |

Who knows what we'll know. It seems as though, and please correct me if I'm wrong. That you have already decided the move is a bad move, and there's not much chance of it working out? |

If the Oilers pick 3rd, I don't think they'll be looking for an offensive upside guy. I think they'll take a good, hard look at guys like Dal Coile and Bennet |

I didn't like the move when it happened and I don't like it now. I will change my tune when he gets better, but his play hasn't been a surprise to me.
I didn't like the Streit move either, but I admit he's helped the team this year and was a nice acquisition. |

possible changes to come next season;
-A proposal to move the hashmarks aside the offensive zone faceoff circles from three feet apart to five, in an effort to clear up congestion. "Less b.s.," as Islanders GM Garth Snow said Monday, a quote so useful it must be recycled.
-A proposal to change the way faceoff "cheaters" are dealt with. Now, the offender is kicked out of the circle, but too many GMs feel that's being used as a delay tactic, to rest tired teammates. Instead, the guilty party would be forced to move back between 12-18 inches (still to be decided), making it harder to reach for the puck. A second violation would remain a penalty.
I like the bolded idea |
