I'll explain further. If Gagne was a declining player, that whats the issue with trading him? He's declining. The Organization was citicized because they traded a declining player.
And then on the other hand, they're criticized for signing a declining player in Lecavalier.

I'm not equating the players. The contradiction is in the criticism, not the players, and how long they've been with the team. Declining is the common ground between the two players and where the contradiction lies.

To me the Penguins aren't a hated rival. I hate the Devils and Rangers far more than I hate the Penguins.

It hasn't worked out so far. Towards the end of the deal it will. Jagr is having a much better year in NJ this year then he had with the Flyers. Healthier too. Hasn't missed a game, and he played in the Olympics as well.

As guys get older, they get better.

Recent history yes. Pens have been a rival. Besides the Crosby years, and when Mario was a Penguin, they haven't been competitive. As a young kid I remember seeing the Pens play in person (pre-Mario) and thinking god this team sucks.

Yes, but it's not really the Pens. It's more of a Sid/Geno thing, from our side. You remove them from the equation, and they go back to 3rd place (or lower) behind NYR and NJ.

There is no team in all of sports that I hate as much as the NY Rangers. None, though the Dallas Cowgirls come close!

The only thing more painful that 2000 was being at Game in 2010 in person. Game 7 2004 is close too. Those 3 teams (95, 00, 04) would have won at least 2 Cups.
