His career is close to over, he should have never changed philosophies and should have divorced from Sullivan, those 2 are PP killers
Doesn't help when your GM is getting 18 holes in on deadline day - cranford93
I think getting fired last year really sucked the life out of him. He loved coaching this hockey club but wasn't willing to bend, he wanted to do it his way and it cost him his career. Its too bad because he is a good coach and you say he is a PP killer, he was a PP specialist and he has had success in that area and with Sullivan. I think a combination of pride and blind loyalty got him in the end. The Oedipus Rex of hockey.
However, I would love it if NBC hired him to work in the studio alongside Mike Milbury, that would be fun, two guys who wouldn't mince words and the on the fly editing would be a challenge too. |

I was reading a Vancouver news article about the game last night and I was reminded that the Canucks will now go into next year and not ever have won a Cup for their 45th year of existence.
I then remembered Canucks fans holding up 1940 signs during the 1994 finals.

Its hard to believe that a Canadian based franchise has not won a Stanley Cup since 1993. |

Pretty sure their GM should be fired first. I'd rather have EDM's goalie situation. They deal Lou which to me shows they wanna blow it up. But then don't deal Kesler. They don't know what they want to be. As Ray Ferraro said "They are half-pregnant"
Just a MESS over there. And AV is here smiling and chewing his gum. - mrhattrick27
they have NINE GUYS with no trade clauses.
NINE
it's absurd, and HAHAHAHA Ryan Kesler. |

If I were him watching his team make a complete mess of that game I'd think about it....I think he even chuckled after the Isles re-took the lead at 5-4 on the very next shift i think it was.... |

Seriously, grass always looks greener. How bad do they long for the days of AV and continuous division titles? |

Clearly it did for AV, he I'm sure got a sense that the project was falling apart and all of those NTC's would tie the hands of the GM going forward, he probably left that meeting after he was let go and did a Bernie Nichols fist pump...

We have Hank, Girardi, Richards, and thats it correct?
EDIT: Random question but how much do you think a NTC is worth to a player, and how much to a GM?
If a player said I want 6 years $36M or 5 years $30M but a full NTC, which would you take? As a player I feel like I'd take less to get a full NMC. Then I have complete control over my career. |

And Girardi's isn't even for the full length of the contract if I'm not mistaking. |

Well a bit. He has a full NMC first 3 years, which then steps down to a NTC. Not that matters anymore as you can't hide salary in Hartford. |

McDonagh has one that doesn't start until 2016, like we would ever trade him.
Hopefully Bob Gainey never takes over for Sather as GM |

E staal is having a waaay down year - guy has always been
A serious force; I will assume he gets back to that level. J is prob
Overpaid but is also valuable. Hafta say they are a good bit better than what
We have based on every year. It this one. Eric would rock as a #1 center -fugettaboutit. - BobbySchmautz
the more i think about it the more it seems possible, and it would be a typical sather move. and what a PR heaven it would be, NY media would love the 3 (4?) brothers on the same team. |

It seemed that NMC/NTC were all the rage for a few years, but I think many GMs have become hip to how hamstrung they make any given team and are much more hesitant to hand them out. So I think the value of them will start to increase.
