I would really like to see Miller get a shot, feel bad for him going up and down every other week. The only other thing I could think of besides the Richards buyout would be letting Boyle walk. You can use some of the 1.8 mil towards keeping Pouliot and then Miller could take Boyle's spot. But, I doubt the Rangers want Miller on the 4th line so keeping Pouliot may not be realistic.

One other option, I guess, is trading Brassard and slotting Miller into his spot at a cheaper salary, but who knows? Even though the Callahan, Girardi, Lundqvist and Del Zotto situations have been dealt with, it still will be a relatively interesting summer with Kreider, Brassard, Stralman, Zucc, Boyle, et. having to be addressed, and with St. Louis and Staal coming down the pipe the following year.

It's a good thing Reilly Smith has turned out to be a player, what happened to Louie?
- cranford93

Joe Morrow probably will be used as tradebait again in the offseason, Louie just has been turned into mush this season, he needs a long offseason of resting and getting healthy again. I think he comes back big next season

JT Miller's 21st birthday is in 4 days.

I think we all need to keep that in mind when talking about not getting a real shot.

He'll be here fellas

IMO, his play during the times that he has been up clearly has shown that he is good enough to be with the Rangers. The Rangers have roster space issues this year, and I think they would rather have him continue to play big minutes in Hartford. But, next year, he needs to play with the Rangers, because they need players with lower salary levels, and he's ready to make that step.

And can we stop with the roster revisions already Look forward to 2014-15 after this year is over and lots of these proposals likely won't happen, but good for us to dream.

A Will Smith song comes to mind as a time for discussing those blogs...

On another note, doesn't seem like there is much support for the 3 on 3 overtime, which I personally wouldn't like. That is just like replacing one gimmick for another.

my question always gets back to the ice surface, and it's something nobody writes about

after the 3rd period, and 5 minute overtime, the ice is shot.

If they add another 5 minute overtime with 3 on 3, the ice will be so bad that you are starting to be reckless with the health of the players.

And, if people say, well, let them resurface the ice then, is a regular season hockey game in January worth another 15 minute intermission after the 3rd period?

But it's a better gimmick than a shootout. You would be winning on a hockey play.

I know I am in the minority, but I don't mind it the way it is right now. I know the shoot-out is a gimmick, but I also still find it pretty exciting (and prefer the shoot-out to the old school tie). Again, I realize that I'm in the minority on this, and totally understand the arguments against the shoot-out.

I like the shootout when we win, hate it when we lose. I am very self centered about it.

How about getting rid of the "dead in the head" rule and allow these goals that are scored before you actually HEAR the whistle to stand.

Or just bring back the tie which will never happen and award three points for a win. All wins, OT or not, one for the tie....teams desperate for points this time of year, that could be fun...

Talk seems to be having teams change sides again to include the long change in the equation

The Semin deal never made any sense to me, also guys like Boychuk, Dalpe and Nash never panned out, still some chips to build around like Skinner, Faulk and Murphy
- cranford93

Semin gets a mostly undeserved bad rap. Sure he is overpaid but who isn't on the Carolina roster. I like the guy and have no issues with his effort. He's not their issue, his skill set is desperately needed. He tries to get too fancy sometimes and be a playmaker, but when he is focused on shooting the puck he produces.

Now the inability to draft or develop players through the system.....that is a huge problem for the Canes.

Sekera has been their best player by far this year, much better than Faulk IMO.

Whats Kirk like for a coach? Is he working out with just a bum hand dealt to him based on what Rutherford has assembled for a team, or is a coaching change needed too?
- DDM-Coga

For me I think the jury is still out on Muller. I don't think he's done a great job this year but I think there are bigger issues. The top 9 has some gaping holes in it from a talent standpoint and a few high paid guys haven't produced as they have in the past. Not sure you can blame this on coach.....yet.

I would change GM before I changed the coach if I were running the team.

Rangers have to acquire E. Staal if they sign Marc to a long term deal just to ensure that he doesn't knock him out again.

Reportedly kicked in goals were briefly discussed at the Board of Governors meeting today with the possibility of being more liberal brought up. Hopefully, they can gain a consensus when they convene later in the week.
