Seeing some tweets and stories about coach's challenges, longer OT, the future of the shootout and the expansion of video replay. Yet, nothing about pucks off of skates and that stupid "dead in the head" rule as it pertains to blowing the whistle. I was watching the Bruins game vs the Lightning (yes I watched primarily bc Callahan was playing) the other night and Boston got screwed out of a goal. Its quite possibly the dumbest rule in sports.... |

i get that but take into consideration that e.staal is having one of his worst seasons, last year he turned Jiri tlusty into one of the top goal scorers so imagine what he could do with guys like kreider and nash. and on top of that by adding those two it would make us a huge and imposing team and it would cover up the fact that both MSL and zucc play on this team. by adding those two we wouldn't have to be scared to play boston because we would be bigger. - webleedblue
I understand but he is making Lundqvist, Malkin and Crosby money and I just don't like the contract. I know what you're saying however. |

The Semin deal never made any sense to me, also guys like Boychuk, Dalpe and Nash never panned out, still some chips to build around like Skinner, Faulk and Murphy - cranford93

I think we need to remember that in any future trade, whether it be for the Staals or anybody else, that the Rangers have seriously depleted their organizational asset base to make the Nash and St. Louis deals. They don't have the same young players in the system that they used to have, and those would be the type of players that Carolina (or other teams) would be looking for in those type of deals. So, the Rangers would be in a position to either to have to trade the young assets they have left to make those deals, which would throw the salary structure way out of whack.
When you have those huge salaries on the books, you need young guys to play on entry levels and reasonable RFA contracts to be successful. If you trade all those guys, to bring in big ticket guys, then the bottom of your lineup will be total crap. |

As we said when we acquired Nash, but more so now. We are married to those guys. We chose St. Louis and Nash. There is no more trading for a star player. |

Plus the Rangers are developing one in McDonagh and Zuccarello is a star that is getting brighter by the day who fell in our laps but I'm not putting him in the category of the aforementioned 3.
Oh yeah, that guy named Hank is star too, so the star power is in place, do they have enough of the complimentary pieces? We will find out... |

I guess you can take the Bruin out of Boston and can also take the Bruin out of the player.... |

That is going to turn out to be a real bad trade for the Bruins, as I think Seguin is on the cusp of superstardom. |

You can argue that the Thornton trade was a real bad one as well. But, those trades get masked by the fact that they have been so good at building that organization otherwise. |

I was just going to say that but, it did play a role in building that Bruins team as you mention and its hard to argue with the team success Boston has had and they've done it with a good combination of homegrowns, trades and signings. That team really became dangerous when they signed Chara |

It's a good thing Reilly Smith has turned out to be a player, what happened to Louie? |

They got Marco Sturm, Wayne Primeau, and Brad Stuart in that deal. If you look at that trade in a vacuum, it was a total disaster (especially with Thornton going on to win the MVP and Art Ross the same year I believ, edging Jagr for both). If anything its a testament to how good the Bruins have done things overall to be screw up a trade like that, and still be as good as they are.
The Bruins definetely haven't been afraid to pull the trigger on trading some real good players. |

Swedish version of Benoit Pouliot? High skill level but just isn't consistent? Maybe the Rangers can fix that...imagine New York as the place where all enigmas come to find their games... |

Ya, that is pretty awful but at the time that was considered pretty good value. Thats why its almost impossible to evaluate trades and drafts when they happen.... |

Don't resign Pouliot, move Hags to the Brass line and trade for Louie, reunite him with Richie too, inviting too much trouble? |

I like Pouliot, he's playing well on that line for us. I wonder what he'll be asking for salary wise, I wouldn't wanna go to high on him or too long of a deal either. I'd like to see him do it another year before I commit based on all of his inconsistency so far in his career. |

If there is one thing about being in a playoff chase every darn year, it's that it makes for interesting hockey viewing outside of the Rangers. I realize that the Rangers need to take care of their own business, but with that said, go Pens, Yotes, Stars and Ducks tonight. The Leafs are starting the West Coast gauntlet of Anaheim, San Jose and LA tonight, so in a perfect world, they could go on a bit of losing streak. |

Eventually, the Rangers need to make some rumor for Miller, however. In the Top 9, you have to figure that Stepan, Kreider, Nash, St. Louis, Hagelin, Zucc and Brassard are very likely to be on next year's team, so short of buying out Richards, where does Pouilot fit in?

I would really like to see Miller get a shot, feel bad for him going up and down every other week. The only other thing I could think of besides the Richards buyout would be letting Boyle walk. You can use some of the 1.8 mil towards keeping Pouliot and then Miller could take Boyle's spot. But, I doubt the Rangers want Miller on the 4th line so keeping Pouliot may not be realistic. |
