agree. if Price isn't back within a week or two, i think that's it.
i know the popular thought line was that MB wouldn't have traded for Vanek if Price was healthy but maybe he traded for Vanek because he knows Price won't be back for a while and the team would need the extra scoring just to make the playoffs.

i don't understand why, when it comes to Therrien, it has to be all or nothing. some think he's the sole reason this team sucks, while others think he's infallible and no coach in the history of hockey could be doing better. can't it be in the middle? yes, this roster is lacking. yes, it's virtually impossible to win regularly with Peter Budaj as your goalie. but come on. Therrien isn't exactly doing a bang up job this year. and for everyone who points to Montreal's record, i think it's been proven at this point that Montreal is where it is because of Carey Price.

With Price's injury, i hope it's clear in everyone's mind. Montreal didn't played a bad game, Rask did the big saves and Budaj didn't make the saves. Haven't seen the 3rd but saw this morning that Vanek had an assist on DD goal. Has MT finally given up on the idea of playing Vanek with Plek on the shutdown line?

He did not risk much so it does not matter. The Habs just want to make the playoffs. It justifies keeping Markov and Gionta.

"Wow, we are getting Vanek?? Cool!! I sure hope Therrien makes him play with Plekanec, that guy has been playing with poopty wingers for years and he deserves better!"

"WTF? Therrien is playing Vanek with Plekanec, our shutdown center? Fire Therrien!!!"

Montreal didn't play badly by any means. they were dominant in the first. second period was sloppy and Budaj didn't bail them out the way Rask bailed Boston out in the first. didn't watch the third but the game was over by then. not sure Price makes a difference last night though because Rask was just that good.

so then, you agree that Vanek should be playing on a defensive line against the opposition's top forwards?

Rask has proven in the playoffs AND the Olympics that he is the #1 goalie in the world. Not Lundqvist, Price, Miller, Quick

Price could have done the same in the second, that Rask did in the first. One would assume that he would have. For sure he doesn't let the Lucic shot get through. That was a killer.

that was Rask's best game against the Habs. as you guys know he doesn't typically play well against montreal.

the Lucic goal was a joke. but the Soderberg and Bergeron goals were the result of the kind of sloppy defence (Tinordi mishandling the puck, Markov falling at the blueline) that Boston just doesn't play.
