you would also lose international leverage and buying/negotiating power afforded by being part of Canada.

right, like if the positions taken by Harper (regarding Kyoto per example) reflected our views. talk about a loss?

Reminds me the time that idiot Galganov made a speech in New York, telling Americans they should not do business deals with Quebec.

Amen.
All in all, it's not a question of economics, most experts agree we would do just fine.
It's a question of pride. Do we want to keep leaving at home with the parents or do we want to get our own apartment, pay for everything, and make our own decisions.

I don't really agree with that analogy.

If Quebec sees itself as a child then it has itself to blame, they have no less tools to be an important part of Canada as other provinces.

I do agree though that it's pretty much purely an emotional argument. that's why it will never end.

Sorry, but when the conservatives decide to spend 500M to help the car industry in Ontario but do very little for our economy here, I don't think we have the same tools as you say...

I was not scouting back then and actually wasn't watching much hockey from the 'Q since I believe there wasn't many games on TV and Sherbrooke didn't have the team. I'm sorry for the disappointment since I think you expected me to upload it right away and I hope we'll still remain Internet friends.

There certainly are.
At the end of the day I hope you get your wish and become your own country.
Do I believe it can survive economically? Maybe. The taxes will likely become a huge burden on the population and businesses. Yes worst than it is now. But at the end of the day everyone will speak French so a small price to pay I guess.

I tried to tackle that one but it went nowhere, although waterboy did add something meaningful.
