Francophone Quebec could be a very small country after the natives are finished claiming what they believe is theirs.

Love how this would only happen in QC but not Canada... if there's one government (frank)ing over the natives it's the Fed...

Well..... after 20 some years, the Mrs decided she wants to get a divorce.
2 kids, a house, a cottage, 2 cars, 4 tv, a swimming pool and a jacuzzi, a 400K morgage, 3 loaded credit cards...

I will obviously take my share of the debt, but she will keep all of the assets.
Sounds fair or should I hire a better lawyer?

- habs12

But tell me, should I pay my share of the debt (50%) if I don't get my share of the assets?

Most would have referred to it as the America's as opposed to America when speaking in such broad fashion.

If QC splits ( and it won't) you pay your share, GTFO and leave without 50% of what you just paid for.

not sure the Engels thread on HockeyBuzz is the best place to seek any type of legal counsel. you have a guy on here who thinks that Hydro Quebec is the answer to a sovereign Quebec.

Ok. In French the United States are just called that, the United States. Amérique (America) just refers to the continent.

Fido, the way it is SUPPOSED to work is this:

One person should never end up with all of the assets and less than an equitable portion of the debt. If your lawyer is saying you get 50% of the debt and none of the assets, fire him and get someone who actually went to law school.

Ideally, you'll get SOME assets and SOME debt. The only way you should end up with exactly 50% of the debt is if you end up with 50% of the liquid value of your assets.

Maybe a bit of back reading to see what it was in response to as opposed to taking it as a one off comment would clarify it for you.
