If the pens make it to second round, that will be a bonus imo. We just need to hope for the best and let Shero revamp this team in the summer.

because some of us look at playoff results and not regular season popularity contests.

and miss the excitement that this team brings compared to almost every other team in the league. How many fans would trade their team for the pens and the ability to cheer for crosby/malkin even in that team didn't win the cup. Jersey won the cup hom many times playing the most god awful hockey. Personally I would rather watch the team lose in the playoffs and do so in an exciting fashion than watch them win in a boring one. Bylsma has them playing exciting hockey... but hey... I hear Kevin Constintine might be available

Lost interest in the read pretty quickly. Not enough graphs.

It was pretty apparent in the game against the Ducks that the pens just don't posses the puck well. Lack of cycling in the offensive zone. As someone said earlier I like that we are hurt and not playing great yet still have a chance to win most games though.

I couldn't disagree with that more.

it would be pretty hard to play boring hockey with the team we have. I have never said that we should do a 1-3-1 or strictly check or anything... all I want is some personal responsibility and a coach who is willing to make the changes to help his team win.

if that equates to boring hockey, then I must not know the game like I thought I did.

allowing your stars to continue playing against the other team's best defensive guys and putting a hall of famer on the other wing even though he has spent over a decade at RW... yea that is on him.

not saying it is all. that series just looked like bad karma for the penguins. I watched the highlights on YouTube and man the chances we had... seeing Crosby and malkin have wide open nets but put the puck right into Rask... it was amazing to see.

- SuperHenderson13

Crosby and Malkin know what it takes to take advantage of defensive players. They match up against them every single game. It was nothing new to them. I didn't agree with the Iginla acquisition in the first place.

Like you said too...the chances just didn't go in. At all.

A coach like Darryl Sutter maybe? He has Carter and Kopitar and their game is yawn. People are even saying a player like Gaborik might fail to impress in his system. Is that the kind of ballbusting coach you want coaching crosby and Malkin? wasn't working so well for Therrian. Dan could make cahnge after change but if his stars are shut down the pens lose. the pens lost the bruins series because crosby and malkin (and letang) crapped the bed. The man has led the team through an awful injury year and has them neck and neck for the eastern champs. Crosby and Malkin appear happy, Maatta and Nisk have developed nicely, Fluery isn't a roller coaster this year, etc, etc. what more can people want? If he were to go their would be at least half of the league lined up to sign him. Is he bowman, badger, (insert coach name here) all rolled into one? no... but he is the best coach the pens have had in what feels like a very long time.

I'm not a disco hater, but this seems to be one of his big flaws as a coach... Stays with vets when younger players with potential can step in ... Depres this season for example... Need to let the season play out... Bottomline is Adams won't be the reason the pens win or lose a cup ...

Best thing about this years playoffs.... They have yet to be played. I'm sure these players remember the embarrassment from last season. A little health and heart and they're on their way.

Well its always nice to see that people have started to come around to my assessment of the Pens problems....

I honestly don't know what is more of a concern, the fact that 90% of our fan base continues to buy into this "win regular season games is the most important thing" regime, or the sad notion that this team is built to compete in the playoffs. Because the Penguins organization has thrown in the towel this year, they themselves do not believe they can win, what do you think that does to a team's morale? Using the last 2 games as proof, it doesn't do anything good. For the first time (EVER) Sid does not look interested, he looks detached almost Ovie like. That is a huge problem.

I don't blame him at all, for what looks like an "if you don't care, I don't care" type of Sid-uation.

Go ahead claim you don't see it, because I know that's coming.

On a positive note Matt Cooke still plays with heart, and has more guts than the entire current Penguins lineup.

Kunitz-Crosby-Stempniak
Jokinen-Malkin-Neal
Pyatt-Sutter-Vitale
Glass-Goc-Adams
Conner-Bennett-Gibbons

So the Penguins tradedeadline moves made the 3rd line better? HAHAHAHAHA wow

Havent been around all weekend but Simon Despres playing like a legit top 5 defenseman might be one of the more important developments this weekend. Get Martin back and try to work the pairings from there.

Sutter is still with the Pens and has looked good. Can't wait for them to resign him this summer.

Do you honestly believe that? Minus the fact that I absolutely hate him as a hockey player, for your sake I truly hope that you don't believe he is good for this (or any) team.

i think that what Anaheim and Chicago have done are models the pens need to look to for roster changes. at the end of the day, while not popular, sometimes decisions need to be made to improve the roster. that is regardless of the obligation the coach may feel to a veteran.

would trading orpik or letang or.......fill in the blank... bring back a return that would made them stronger? right now it seems like the pens have:
regular season fleury (not to be confused with playoff fleury), geno, neal, jussi, sid and kunitz. i dont know enough about goc and stempniak but i am guessing they are decent additions. disco cant role with 2.5 lines thru the playoffs hoping that bennett comes back and remains healthy and that someone can step in to play on sid's wing. the bottom 6 are no match for chicago, san jose, anaheim or boston's bottom 6. besides, teams know if they smother sid, its over.

i think i read a stat the other day that said that 11 players on the current roster are signed for next yr. it will be an interesting summer of UFA signings and there should be some flex with the cap going up. i am guessing the goalie situation is dependent upon performance during this season's playoffs.

The small cap neutered Shero's ability to fill out the roster this year. This was a year in which teams who spend to the cap ceiling can't afford injuries. The Penguins have had injuries.

Yeah, as some has said Fleury's future may very well be dependent on his play this postseason. Even if the team gets kicked out early but he has good numbers (which I am skeptical of) he will be back. I am actually quite excited to see how management handles this off-season. Of course I am even more excited for the playoffs!
