No need for that kind of play in a pick-up game (or anywhere). I am feeling better but it has been a tough road. I was given the green light for weight bearing on my repaired foot on Monday and then get hit with the clot on Thursday... went from feeling good to feeling sucker punched. This too shall pass...and then I will find that little (frank)er

I heard when they take off the cast for an Achilles injury and the doctor pushes your foot back into place, it's the most painful moment.

Speaking of retribution, 10-years since the Moore/Bertuzzi incident... TSN has a video segment on their site... violence and the code can really go too far in hockey... it's absolutely shocking to watch the footage to this day, the way Bertuzzi chased him around the ice.

I'll never get over that. I hate bertuzzi. Would never want him on the flyers

Even a guy like Ehrhoff isn't really equipped for that role. I'd rather the Flyers get another player similar to MacDonald, then to added another offensive defenseman. Coburn needs a partner for the tough matchups.

No interest is Dan Boyle on a 1 or 2 yr deal as a bridge til the farm is ready

I think it could have ended up being anyone who could have done it... Bertuzzi's a product of the eye-for-and-eye kind of culture that pervades the North American game... it could easily have been Jovo, Cooke, May or Ruutu... the whole team was hunting for the guy.

Me neither...It still upsets me he still is playing and making a lot of money doing so...He should give more a portion of his salary...

Actually the Achilles itself has not hurt too much. The injury didn't really hurt. The surgery wasn't bad. The worst part was the awful awful charlie horses I was getting in my calf as a result of the complete tear in the Achilles. There was no tension on the lower end of the calf and the thing would just ball up at night. The clot has been a bit painful too, but not as bad as the charlie horses.

I hope your recovery doesn't hit anymore speed bumps! I'm still a month away from fully recovering after breaking my knee cap (which I inflicted on myself, I better not meet myself in a dark alley). Fortunately, no blood clots!

I thought Gus would get lots of time playing once Flyer Dmen started getting injured. Fortunately/unfortunately, there haven't been any significant injuries to any Dman all year that I can recall.

I will say this much - the schedule is going to pick up dramatically end of next week. Great for the fans hard on the players.

I know. Crazy that the schedule is so light this week for the Flyers. Two off-nights both before and after Wednesday's game, then play Saturday then next Tuesday. They had better rest now while they can because it's going to get jam-packed with games.

Mmmm... there was a point in time when AMac was being kept out of the lineup because guys like Meyer, Gervais, Campoli, Hillen and Pock were in front of him and were seen as more conducive to the goal of winning games immediately.

How will we ever know what Gus is capable of, if he doesn't get a real shot? AMac wasn't exactly a can't miss prospect when he was trying to break into the league either.

- Tomahawk

That 09/10 Islanders team was a bottom-feeder, yet he still played 50%+ of the games, so I don't think he was being kept out of the lineup much.

The difference with those teams and this team is their talent and record. The Flyers are #2 in their division right now and have been playing well. As it stands, AMac gives them a better chance of continuing to win. If the team was as bad as that 09/10 Islanders team, they'd probably be shipping off everyone they could and playing the young guys like Gus.

I'm not saying he shouldn't have been playing since day 1 this season. I'm just saying that he's not enough of a difference maker where it's imperative that he plays over the other players on the team.

Doesn't make it okay. Bertuzzi should have skated up to him, grabbed him and beat him up. That's a far cry from sucker-punching a guy in the back of the head and slamming his face into the ice.

I really hope Emery is fully fit by the time of the next back to back against Pittsburgh.

So now that we have a finished product and trades have been made, what are everyone's expectations for the team this year? Missing playoffs? First round exit? 2nd Round exit? CUP WINNER!?

Even if he is, where do you play him? You have the back-to-back (home/away) vs. Pittsburgh and then one day off before Chicago at home. Do you give Mason both Pittsburgh games and give Emery another shot vs. Chicago? Or do you give Emery the road game vs. Pittsburgh?

My expectations are the same as they were at the start of the Season. I think they're a playoff team, and anything after that, is gravy.

My biggest impression is that overall, this team is headed in the right direction. Just need to be a little more patient.

Getting into the playoffs would be great.
Anything beyond that is just gravy for me.

I had very low expectations at the start of the season, and I'm keeping it that way.

Barring some miracle, I think this team is a legitimate ECF contender. They could potentially beat any of NYR/Wsh/Cbs/Car/NJ in a 7-game first-round series. They could potentially beat Pittsburgh in a 7-game series. However, unless some upsets happen (and even if they do), they're most likely not making it out of the ECF. Boston and TB would be hard outs for them (although I think they could beat Montreal).

I think we make the playoffs. Chances of a cup? Slim to none. Why can't us and all, right?
