Seems to be fixed now. If only the Generals could do the same.
Laughton can go AHL next year, right? |

Criticize Berube all you want, I have.
But the bottom line is winning games. He's done that. 33-21-6 as head coach. Taking over a mess of a team, that had no training camp to adjust to what he was doing to turn the ship around.
On October 22nd, the Flyers were in 30th place in the NHL. Behind Edmonton, even Buffalo. They now sit second in their division. Berube has done as good a job as could be expected. |

I dunno... think the coaches always get too much blame when things are bad, and too much credit when things go well.
IMO, the turnaround has just as much to do with the players themselves recovering individually from poor/slow starts as anything else. Especially G, the rest of the top-line, and Kimmo. Couturier and B Schenn generally playing well hasn't hurt either.
As for Berube, I'm still pretty concerned with how quickly/easily their team game falls apart, the continued lack of discipline, general inconsistency in all areas, and selective accountability. I'm still not sold on him. |

It does have a lot to do with the players. But Berube has been putting most of them in a good position to do well. He's let Couturier play regularly with goo linemates and we've seen his game flourish. Schenn has been handled well and not lost his spot even through a few slumps where he couldn't seem to buy a goal.
Strides need to be made in some areas, but the bottom line is, they are winning. |

On one hand it's stated that the turn around has just as much to do with the players, which I don't disagree with. And then on the other hand the Coach is blamed for the team game falling apart, the lack of discipline, and general inconsistency. Why isn't that on the players also?
The good is on the players, and the bad is on the Coach? I would say that both the player and the Coaches have a hand in both.
As far as selective accountability, Players on a team are never completely equals at the pro level. Just the way it is.
And Berube deserves a ton of credit for turning this team around and giving them a solid structure to play with. |

I like Berube's calm demeanor.
He doesn't seem to get too high or low.
I think as a coach he could have more longevity then a Lavi or Torts type.
He could hold certain players more accountable.
Then again he is getting results, so?
A few games ago Hartnell had back to back penalties to start the game.
He let him play through it, and Hartnell had a great shift later in the third period.
Not what I would have liked to see done but it worked. |
