Yeah even though the game itself might be up-and-down, the Hawks usually are money in games 5 and 6. I can only think of losing to detroit in game 5 in 2009 and losing to phoenix in game 6 in 2012. Hawks need to start better. They usually are 1-2 after 3 games in a lot of the series.

That reminds me of that huge game 5 against Nashville. I got so pissed off in the 3rd after they scored those goals to take the lead. I shut off the tv. Couldn't believe the news later how they won

Same deal for me. It was my girlfriend at the time's birthday. I listened to the game on the radio driving up to Wisconsin Rapids. Turned it off when I got there just as they were entering OT after Kane tied it. Got the text update from the Blackhawks shortly after getting to my friend's house and thought, "That was quick. Predators must have scored on the Hossa major." What a surprise.

2010 they swept the Sharks (was at that final game). They went up 2-0 vs the Flyers before Philly knotted it (took my Dad to game 5 in Chicago). 2013 the Hawks never trailed in the Kings or Wild series. But I know what you mean

It is hard to doubt them after all the playoff success over the years, but I still think they need to come out better in the 1st series. I know they beat Minny and Nashville but they didn't seem as sharp or as competitive as they should have been. I know a lot of teams are like that

It was a truly amazing win. Not only to tie it short-handed, but they had to kill a 5-minute major. Bolland, Madden, and Sopel were huge killing that penalty. Versteeg, too, made some nice plays

Depends on what the schedule will be with the new bowl playoff format in the NCAA. They aren't going to change the current deal with the NHLPA. They already have the Winter Classic that day competing with bowls games. Add another one that night under the lights. Rematch of the teams in the Cup final from the previous year. Hell. They could even make it at a neutral site. Might keep the novelty for a bit longer. I can't see it happening due to logistics and cost but if they really want to make it unique the could stage the game in unusual locations. For instance, Central Park in NY or Grant Park in Chicago as example. I admit its a far-fetched idea. It would be different though.

The logistics are most likely not feasible. Just spitballing.

It always surprised me that no one goes to Blues games. If they don't go deep this year the owner might have to stop spending to the cap.

I was working in Michigan during most of that season and spent many nights sitting in my car listening to games on the radio through the static. In game 7 I couldn't bear to listen to the final minutes of regulation and exited the car when the penalty was whistled. I probably hadn't walked more than 20 feet when I received a text telling me to get back in the car. Toews had tied it up with the shorty. Only prolonged the agony.

Yeah for awhile there it looked like they might drop to 7 or 8, but then they went on a big streak. At least they will play San Jose. One of those great teams will be going home way early

Finally got around to watching 17 seconds today on Blu-Ray... they did a real nice job with it - highly recommended.
