I was at a party, well there was a party going on and my buddy and I sat upstairs by ourselves and got fairly intoxicated, so I was prone to making bad decisions That Canucks team was really good, when healthy maybe the best team in the league, and that was the worst Hawks team of this era and they still took them to 7 games.
- rollpards19

Some teams just get into your head. We were definitely in Vancouver's. Obviously there were a few Hawks better than Bolland, but that series all turned when he came back. Sedins crapped their pants then had a huge game with 4 points, too. Smith had that great game 6 OT winner, too

Yeah I remember him being pretty good....and the Hawks looking much better with him....then he took off to Montreal...and from there believe Europe
- captainserious

My memory of him was great when first acquired, but choked in POs. I still thought they should have kept him.

Punched a hole in the wall of a house when that happened. I was so unbelievably confident they were going to win. Sharpie

All of that, plus good Crawford, but the outstanding memory of that whole series is Toews, going one on three (including Luongo) with two minutes left - short handed - for the tie.

That goal, and the groin-splitting penalty shot Frolik scored in Game 6 definitely are the ones that stick out for me.

Yeah that short-handed goal was huge. Game 4 was my favorite. After that cheap shot knocking seabrook out, the Hawks were on a mission, especially keith. Keith was a pissed-off monster in that game

Check out this goal from Canes prospect Tolchinsky.

- prd797

Yeah he makes Pat Stapleton look like a giant when he stands next to him.

(My firends and I were hammered with him by the end of the pre All-Star game cocktail party at the mall that used to be next to Goose Island. We were supposed to be volunteer hosts at the evnt to tell people were thsiu and that were and watch out for problems from out "posts." My good friend Kevin's dad was the press guy for the wirtz from the 1950's and he got up the jobs over the Standbys. The liquor was free and flowing, and after we we given posts and they checked once if we were there, we were G O N E...part of the dignitaries. I'll tell you the story later. I was very fortunate I got hoem the half minle to my house without a DUI.)

You'd have cared as much: knocked them out of the play-offs - you'd have cared plenty.

Omfg.

Who started this conversation ?

I knew it was over when the Power Play in OT produced 1 shot on goal.

I knew the collie f the Canucks franchise was eventually going to happen but if the Hawks would have won that series after being down 3-0...., the suiicide rate in riot City would have skyrocketed !!!

The cap next season is $71.1 million.
- EKolb13

if the truth IS that they are gonna shrink it due to the canadien dollar, that is tough on hawks ... I was sure the new HNIC momey and outdoor money was going to have to funnel into the Cap.

After that goal to tie it, you could've heard a pin drop in the rink that night. I've never been to a game with more nervous energy in the building. In addition to the Sharp chance, Toews almost won it on the PP when he threw the puck across the goal line and Luongo was lucky to squeeze it. The Nucks fans (who'd been chirping all night) couldn't even breathe for that 2 minutes

It will: +7 because of more revenues, -(1/2/3) because of Canadian dollar.

Not so sure of that, I just seem to remember that he did not play well in Montreal early in the season and rarely saw the ice again.

His stance/interviews regarding the lockout didn't do him any favours with any of the owners. Could call it being blacklisted, so to speak. But that's nothing more than conjecture anyway...

- prd797

IIRC and at my age its iffy at best. I think his contract demands were pretty outrageous and that also played a factor in him being out of the league.

To remotely believe anyone in Rockford is as good as Leddy is flat out wrong and that includes Rundblad today.

Now if the Hawks bow out early...In the 1st two rounds, things will get interesting this summer.

- Al

RD David Runblad has played 50 NHL games and 12 playoff games to the tune of a minus 50 +/- regular season ZERO +/- in playoff (How much ice you think he saw?)

Yeah

LD Klas Dahlbeck has played no NHL games

RD Stephen Johns has played no NHL games

I think Dahlbeck plays a smart conservative game but can't be compared to the abilities you saw in Hjalmarsson while in 99 game stay in Rockford. He used his body to man handle guys on the wall and showed the strong stick feet and body work despite still not being a overly good outlet passer. (He got better, eh?)

Johns might come with two Chicago Stadium's worth of hype, but he is pretty smooth strong, punishing and eager...It ain't Kansas (err, college) and the feet have to be ready and an early ascension to the bigs might even mean a coach whose job is pregame post game to work with him.
The thing about Johns is over the years even though he is a right hander he has played the left side a significant amount of time.

An outside 'fill' defenseman brought in as a UFA would be a typical overpayment and at least 3 mil...just go look what the deemen who were for all intents and purposes 5s and 6s who teams thought might play in the top two pairs get paid handsomely...so this to me says team want to try to work in their youth on dee gradually and it looks like a good idea to start thinking advancement in the next couple simply because not all of the guys can keep staying around as their salaries go up, right?

Sage. The NHL has taken steps to avoid just this situation due to the previous problems they had in the late 90's early 2000's when the same thing happened.
