Risto is 18. He could maybe fill his void in 4-5 years

He was drafted in 2013. He might be 19 now I havent checked, but he needs a few years before he gets pushed into a top 4 role. Myers was pushed into a top 2 role and it's a reason he struggled with consistentcy

I agree with that I guess at the same time buffalo could just play a vet in Myers role if he is dealt for 1 or 2 years

You can change your name all you want but you're still a padawan.

On here instead of chasing coeds.

There's more of chance that ROR signs with the Sabres then Kane, not a chance in hell that happens.

An alternative would be keeping Myers and drafting three forwards with picks all higher than any we've had in the last decade.

Not a center
Need someone that can match up against other teams top centers
And hopefully still provide some offense
If Kesler was signed for 5yrs instead of 2, that would be great
Although someone younger would be nice

The debate over him is worse than ROR, hahaha
I like him personally
But we'd still need to find our "Drury"

Just picking talented players isn't enough
We've got to build a "team"

Right now,
We have a lot of young centers
The only one who might be considered good enough defensively to take on other teams top players are Girgensons & possibly Larsson
Problem is,
Right now Girgensons is playing mostly wing, and Larsson needs much more time before he's ready to take on guys like Crosby or Stamkos

MAYBE Reinhart can develop into that guy, but again, that'll take time

Hodgson, Ennis, Grigorenko, McDavid...
None of whom project to be your typical "two-way" centers that can handle that kind of defensive responsibility

Well we gotta find someone
Or move Girgensons back to center
But then that would mean THREE of Hodgson, Ennis, Grigorenko & Reinhart would have to move to the wing or be traded (assuming we also get McDavid)

not to be taken seriously, but Jordan Staal... though he's just another 2nd-3rd line center. Would come at a lesser cost than Kesler (I would think)

Yep good chance we do find some . Thats the glory of it . We have a clean slate and money to spend and Darcy isn't in charge. The team is finally blown up like I wished 5 years ago when i started the explosion av.

I'm happy

He's young, but JT Compher is going to be really good IMO

Young players can be taught a system and become a team. Seems thats what they are going for. Vets are set in their ways and the youngins will try and follow them. Best to have a coach teach them . Nolan could do that. Too many comments on Nolan that he doesn't know how to handle Vet talent. Tag from 18 yrs ago? He said he isn't the same , seems to be walking the walk so far. Lets give it time (not just aimed at you) This team is in its baby stages . I like the looks of this team going forward.

He's certainly off to a great start
He'll take even longer than say Reinhart to develop to the point that he can take on guys like Crosby though
And I've heard he prob projects out as a winger even though he's playing center now

Like him too though
Our draft last year was freaking amazing
Besides the 5guys we got in the top2 rounds...
Baptiste, Possler & Petersen all look like sleepers that got drafted way too low

Murray is going to be forced to make deals just bc we have more good young talent than we are allowed to have under contract
