If it was guaranteed to be a 6th (or later), I think it could be worth the risk, because you do need a good group of vets for with the kids. But I essentially would also need to know that he's not going to leave after his current contract expires.

It'll be years before you can call that pick a bust or not. And the going rate for Kesler for the leafs was Kadri, Reilly and a 1st. I would not pay that for a guy who isn't a bonafide #1 centre.

Kesler is as close to a #1 that can be aquired as you can get.

The thought of buffalo picking 2 of these kids ekblad Reinhart or Bennett has me truly excited! Reinhart and Bennett both should be great first line centers ! Who play both sides of the ice, now Ekblad's game is what people want out of Myers big likes to hit great skater and killer on the pp and pk!! His all around game the kid looks like Chris Pronger, Picking 2 of these kid's should make buffalo's rebuild so much faster

All Darcy could do was trade for picks, all the players he got back were terrible. He never went out and got the guy.

I love what the avs have done over time. Oh I need this guy whatever go get him. We need a goalie heres a 1st.

Got out Goalie and our number 1 dman, it wasnt pretty but we got them now and dont have vultures circling us trying to make us trade any of the core kids to fill those needs

So if you extrapolate from that it would be one of Girgensons/Armia one of Myers/Ristolainen and one of the 1sts that isn't a Buffalo pick. It's an awful lot to pay for a guy who again isn't a clear cut #1.

And kesler isn't the closest thing to a #1 that we can acquire. We've got a legit shot at drafting a franchise centre this year and next. I don't want to (frank) that up with a miracle run to 9th place because we got all hopped up on a centre that can play defense.

fair enough, in 2009 we had our first lottery pick in Duchene, next year they had Hall. But arguablly they had better prospects with MPS and Eberle already picked before, we had our mid rounders of Shattenkirck and Stewart and the years before then while they were adding Gagner in those picks

But they did a good move by turning MPS into Perron but last thing they neede was more forwards.

I see that too. I wouldn't risk a shot at McDavid/Eichel, but if we get Reinhart this year and can move for Kesler, it wouldn't be bad to have a guy signed to help Reinhart and McDavid (all things working out to plan).
