I like Kesler, a lot...
But besides injuries, we'd have to give up good assets to get him
and if we aren't good (really good) after next season (which is unlikely), why would he extend?
Then we have to trade away another guy?
I'm done with all that
Now I want a continuous build towards a long-term winner

- jdfitz77

I like Kesler as well, and don't think we will part with the assets that Vancouver will want. I was just saying that he is a guy we could use and his cap hit over the term is better than signing Callahan to a longer deal with more money.

I don't think we will get either player in my honest opinion. I'm just saying that I am drawn to watch Kesler when he is on the ice. You can tell that he gives everything he has on every shift no matter of the score in the game. I do not watch as many Rangers games because I live on the opposite side of the country now. So I am not as versed on Callahan's game. I know he's a similar player, but from my own eyes I like what Kesler brings to the game.

This is how I feel about it too. I really like Kesler. He's a hell of a player. I'd love to see him in Blue and Gold. But not at the expense of the rebuild. Giving up any assets right now for a guy that could walk in a few years isn't worth it IMO.
- HonkFortheGoose

He isnt going to waive his NTC to come here if he doesnt want to be here for the long haul. Especially when the original idea was about trading for him and luring Kane here in 2015. Something I read in the blackhawks blog

I miss playing drums. Switched to guitar because all of my friends were drummers. Some of my favorite nights were playing drums in crowded bars in Buffalo.

Let's put it this way - if we get Kesler I won't be excited because I'm expecting 40 goals next year.

(we aren't getting him anyway)

- nfph

lies !!!!!!!!!!! we have him already on the roster

Both sound very familiar, but I can not say with 100% certainty. I was only playing in Buffalo for two years and then moved back west.

You asked a question. I answered it. How am I high and mighty?

BTW, Pavel Datsyuk must be a bum because even though he has 3 Selke's, he has no 40 goal seasons to his name. I bet he cries himself to sleep at night wishing he could be more like Ryan Kesler.

- HonkFortheGoose

A. Where is Ryan Calllahan's Selke?
B. Where is Ryan Callahan's 30 goal season let alone 40?
C. Does Callahan play center?

Were comparing Kelser to Callahan, not Kelser to Datsyuk.

what goalies who couldnt live up to potential, 3rd line centers, azz hole wingers who fizzel out? We can help out there.
They traded Schnider for a 1st and used it on Bo Freaking Horvat.

Bo Horvat who may be the worst top 10 pick ive ever seen in person

Me:

Hate heavy metal and hair band music, like some prog rock (love Frank Zappa)
Hate commercial country music, love bluegrass
Hate R&B and most puff-daddy poopty hip hop. Like underground stuff.
Hate modern Jazz, love Mingus / Monk / Davis / Jarrett, etc.
Like pretty much all classical

poop. I'm a hipster.

My really good friend Mikey V plays drums for Low Road Revival which was Gorilla Punch previously.
I told him I always loved that name 'Gorilla Punch'. Awesome name for a band.
Wish they would have kept it.

You don't necessarily know that. If he really wants out of Vancouver, he could very well just tell them that he will waive in general and it doesn't matter where he ends up. If the situation there is bad enough, it may not matter where he ends up, so long as it's not there.

You're putting a lot of stock on things that you're assuming could happen. Would I love Kesler here? Absolutely. I'm not saying that I wouldn't. Until he had all those injuries, he was my next favorite player behind Toews, so you don't need to sell me on him. I know what he's been able to do in the past. I just hate that fact that we would have to give up assets that may be more beneficial for us to keep during this rebuild. That Ennis/Pysyk/1st deal bothers me because of the 1st. Not the players. If that 1st turned out be McDavid, would you still want to do it?

See where I'm coming from now?

All Darcy could do was trade for picks, all the players he got back were terrible. He never went out and got the guy.

I love what the avs have done over time. Oh I need this guy whatever go get him. We need a goalie heres a 1st.

If he was an owner in a non salary capped league we would become a powerhouse

It'll be years before you can call that pick a bust or not. And the going rate for Kesler for the leafs was Kadri, Reilly and a 1st. I would not pay that for a guy who isn't a bonafide #1 centre.

Good point. When your team plays Kassian with the Sedin's, I guess there is an issue there.

Nice. I played for a bar band there called Tour Three (strange name). Mostly in South Buffalo, but it was a great time.

This. You only make that deal if you think you're getting an absolute game changer thus making the need for that top 5 pick moot.
