Dallas up 3-0 on Vancouver, with Tyler Seguin just scoring on a turnaround shot from the boards on Eddie Lack.

Three goals allowed on 8 shots for Eddie Lack, who is not Roberto Luongo or Cory Schneider. In a kill-shot kind of game for Vancouver's playoff hopes.

I will be AMAZED if Mike Gillis a) makes the Ryan Kesler trade, and b) steps to the microphone in Philadelphia at the NHL Draft.

I will be STUNNED.

Prospects are nice but you need productive veterans in the room and on the ice. Buffalo could end up like Edmonton in that veterans don't want to sign there, although not as bad as in Edmonton, and they spin their wheels with young players for years.

They need to start hitting with some of these picks, too. They've been a veritable turd factory since the days of drafting Vanek, Miller and Campbell.

Was just talking to a friend today about the trade deadline moves. Mentioned what the Flyers did, giving a 2nd/3rd for Macdonald.

The response I got back, was "Ohh yeah, the Avs got Stastny in the second round". Just something to think about in regards to the value of picks. Got me thinking a bit anyway.

- flyer_nutter

There have been a lot of great players taken in the 2nd rd but the majority of those are still in the top 50. Playoff teams start picking at 45. Unless the draft is loaded like 2003, you will find way more busts than hits after 45 and even more so after 50.

Actually a bit of a question if we are on movies. In Canada its pretty lax, and thankfully so.

Im wondering what the rules are with downloading movies/torrents in the US. Big brother always watching?

They threaten that they're always watching, and we're really not supposed to do it, but people find ways anyway. Same goes with music.

The opposite of that is that sometimes 2nd round picks don't work out. I think the Flyers made a strong move in acquiring MacDonald. And I'm not going to question the trade because players like Duncan Keith, Shea Weber, and PK Subban were drafted in the 2nd round.

I love the spot the Flyers are in. I think they're a key move or two away from being a top team in the League.

Agreed -- certainly, that's the catch. There are absolutely no guarantees.

But when you're awful, it's certainly better to have more picks, not less, no? And I do tend to believe the Murray clan has a good feel for who can play NHL hockey.

No question. The more you roll the dice, the better the chances of hitting.

Depends on your ISP really... d/l isn't near as risky as seeding.

I don't think he will either. He, allegedly, worked out a deal with Pitt, but ownership disapproved. The writing is on the wall. He had his shot and gave it a good run. They are about to enter a rebuild and Im not sure they want Gillis to lead them through it.

Down 3-0, Zack Kassian just got five and a game for boarding. Kassian, who is a repeat offender, is looking at a suspension.

Fonzie looks beaten on the bench.

Depends on how good your scouts are... if they're poop, no amount of picks is going to help. Buffalo... I dunno... they just seem to miss and miss badly.

Ironically, if the Flyers had just one pick every year, in the late 1st round, they'd probably still come out with a star year in year out.

Much higher odds of getting a Kevin Marshall in the 2nd round than a PK Subban, unfortunately.

I've read good things about Joel Armia, and Zadorov and Ristlainen are drawing good reviews, aren't they?

Agreed on the Flyers -- I've said it before, but when those boys draft forwards in the first round, they usually hit, and hit big.

I was just looking through the Flyers draft history. They haven't had a lot of luck drafting in the 2nd round.

Here's a fun question. Who was the worst Draft pick in Flyers history?

Nodl Syndrome.
- flyer_nutter

He had much more promise than Nodl. Most envisioned Nodl with the upside of a 3rd liner.

Kassian was supposed to be a top 6 power forward. He's a 4th liner.
