Think you guys went to heavy on the picks. Would of expected more prospects to help with a quicker turn around. Now your looking at 3 or so years before becoming relevant again. - Gerk
You don't get Connor McDavid by getting better quickly. |

Agree, but I am still happy with the return for Moulson. 2 2nds= a late first anyway, so we got first rd. value. On the other hand, the Isles got hosed for Vanek.
2 2nds actually - benny948
two 2nd's = a late first? What's the logic behind that statement? |

Might not get him all together man. Supposedly Seattle might be awarded a NHL team in a few weeks. |

No reason to trade Moulson they should have resigned him, very good player to have for the rebuild. Not even a hint of any talks from the Sabres to keep him. |

It's a tough call with a UFA, I like him a lot as well but you just can't take a chance on losing him for nothing...been down that road before. I believe Murray will find a couple good vets come July who will be willing to sign here and help in the re-Build. |

Seems like the best thing to hope for now is that Liut puts a deal together with St. Louis before the end of the season, and makes that pick a first rounder. Then, the Blues lose in the first round, so the pick is as high as possible. Around 20th maybe? If it is triggered by them reaching the WCF, then it will be bottom 4 pick at best. |

There's multiple reasons o trade him. Firstly, he's already 30, and by the time the Sabres can start the climb towards contention, he'll be 33-34, so not sure you wanna tie $$ up in him. Secondly, if you can get younger players and/or picks, that are more valuable when you're rebuilding. So yes, there were reasons to trade him, which is what they did. |

Apparently they tried all the way up til the deadline... A few people had posted that yesterday but I'm too lazy to look for it. |

I would trust Moulson saying the day before the deadline that no contract was ever discussed over "a few people posted". |
