This is true.... My biggest problem with everything is that we have holes in goal and on d, the initial Vanak trade didn't correct any of those issues, now we have traded Vanak away and still haven't corrected either issue..
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
And the worst part is we now have no 2015 1st rounder.

Does letting Buffalo have the pick this year so they can have the 15, admit to the fans they are going to be bad again next?
I would have to think they defer in full hopes that they are a better team next year. |

we don't need them to admit it, we can see it already. We need to pick up a proven NHL goaltender, a top 4 defenseman, another top 6 forward and a proven NHL head coach, and coaching staff, before we're even sniffing the playoffs. Odds of Snow making that happen? somewhere between LOL and FVCK ME. |

Well... it all comes down to the final draft order.
Isles will be top 5... probably 3rd or 4th.
They can win the lottery... so, yea I think they give up the 2015. |

I believe they can decide to give it to Buffalo after the draft lottery. If it's not top 2 I'd hand it over.

Don't mean to laugh but
I think they can take a serious run at Halak.
As for the top 6 forward. does Strome fit in their next year?
Top 4 dmen will be tough. I doubt Pulock or Reinhart are ready. |

The Islanders have an easier schedule the last 18 games...so if they go 9-9 they probably will be 6 thru 10 and I woud give up the pick... |

I believe that is correct. The Sabres GM Murray was asked that question and his response was before the draft.
I assume they can take until the day of to decide. |

A smart GM would have a deal in place before extending an offer to Vanek as there is always a change (big one with Islanders) that he will reject. This way the news of Vanek rejected the contract would hit the street long time after he was traded. Vanek.
Very surprised that Anaheim and San Jose didnt make any moves after both St. Louis and LA cleary improved their weakness. Doubt that Vatanen and Gibson or Toffoli were in play for Vanek. There were no high ranked prospects exchanged this year.
I thought that Buffalo made much better trades in terms of draft picks, especially getting 2 second rounders in the Moulson trade. |

Halak will be resigned by the caps by the draft, strome, to me, doesn't look quite ready yet. Reinhart/Pulock/Mayfield/Pedan/Pelach/Donovan
if we have 1-2 out of that group ready to contribute (betting on Reinhart) it'll help, but if we don't have a proven NHL goalie who isn't 40 then we're going nowhere fast. The coaching staff is a huge issue and needs to be cleared out entirely.

Martin St Louis asked for a trade and DEMANDED he be traded to the Rangers.
Several other players that were traded demanded NOT to be traded to the Islanders. - Fan101

Teams were very tight on giving up anything good for rental players this year.
Whether that is due to the cap or due to the fact that GMs are finally realizing it is insane to mortgage the future for 4 months of a player. |

I disagree...the Rangers want to win...the Islanders want draft picks and be losers...big difference... - kear20
They paid a high price but i have a feeling Yzerman would've just said fack it and kept him if he didn't get what he wanted. |

I thought that Strome looked great against the Jets. Had a lot of confidence and was not afraid to make a play or shoot. Thought him, Grabner and Cal were the best forwards yesterday. |

I'm really surprised the Sharks did not make a move. Buffalo did very well with their moves. I was worried about the Isles getting value after Vanek rejected the contract and all the talk of him going to the Wild did not help. |

Halak is going to sign with a PO team, there is no chance the Isles will even bring in a G that's worthy....
I could see Halak resign w/Caps or PITT depending on how Fleury plays in PO's this year |

So, Snow traded Moulson, a first-round pick in 2014, a second-round pick in 2015, and a conditional 5th rounder in 2014 for Collberg and a conditional 2nd round selection in 2014? Basically... right? |
