Doubt Erhoff gets moved today. T Murray has other guys he needs to ship out first. An Erhoff deal makes more sense around draft time. I'm also not convinced the Sens are that interested in him. I could be wrong. I think B Murray will be trying hard for Stewart in the next couple of hours. Michalek should be shipped for a pick as you say.

Need defence now,got our foward in hemsky no reason to trade for another forward with our already bloated number of upfront guys in the ahl

Its half his salary for 19 games, which is barely even worth mentioning, but does seem a little miserly on Ottawas part lol.
- TheTaoOfSemenko

I was trying to calculate this...

We're about 21 weeks into a 26 week season, so we're looking at

5.5/ 26 weeks = 212k a week.
/2 because we only cover half = ~106k
* 5 weeks left = ~530k.

It cost Katz 530k I guess.

I don't believe Spezza and Hemsky will work well together. Both are puck possession then distributing guys. We shall see though.
- Gord_Wilson_2.0

i actually think hemsky can help spezz get into the ozone. or conversely they could flip him with one of kt's wingers .

now they are saying spezza is on his way out so who knows. $!#$ getting crazy close to deadline time. i'd be surprised (but personally delighted) if we got a dman for spez. don't think its gonna happen tho. (e4)

Yeah, we're in trouble. Not like paying Ales for 19 games would have still cost a million dollars anyway or anything...

With Edmonton retaining salary and Conacher and Corvo both waived, you have to think there is room in the "budget" to add another body. 2 hours to go...
- Gord_Wilson_2.0

There is no room in the budget when you ask the other team to pay half the salary (basically peanuts) of the guy you just traded for.

No they didnt ,just seems funny when you have a team like ours spending. 52 mil in actual dollars for this to probably be the only deal we make

I know the proclivities of EugMel lol. I was being sarcastic, mainly because Ive seen several idiots in other threads going on in various threads about how badly the Oilers got hosed lol.

If Ottawa resigns Hemsky this summer, they won that trade hands down. But with Melnyk in charge of the paycheck, who knows?

Matheson just tweeted that the Sens are springing for car service to get him there. EM checked to make sure they validate first.

Could be tricky. You have to leave a credit card on file for those things.

If Spezza gets moved out, the Sens have taken a step or two back from being close to being a contender, as all you will get are prospects and picks. Can't see that happening in the final year of a rebuild. Teams can inquire all they want, but unless we are getting a player that can play on the top line now, consistently, Spezza is going no where. This is assuming contract talks have not broken off between the Sens and Spezza, which I don't believe they have even started recently with all of the other stuff going on.

I wasn't sure if Hemsky wanted to stay in Edmonton to be honest. I guess those draft picks are a small victory for you, however small it is.

He wasn't re-signing here lol, nor would management have tried. They got what they could, decent enough, we all move on. Best of luck to him. He was a loyal Oiler.
