Great game. Love the deadline moves, sort of wished they moved Downie, but if the return was a lat 4th or lower then no problemo.

With their firepower, sitting back and trying to make a lead stand up is a dicey strategy, at best.

Still, got to give the Flyers credit, they bent, but they didn't break. A lot of teams might have fallen apart completely and blew the win. They didn't. They dug down and gutted it out, especially late.

They're a resilient bunch. They feel pressure and fight back.

its been a long time since i've seen a scrappy scott hartnell. it was a nice treat.

I do give them credit -- as we've discussed, they're a flawed team, but they're not faint of heart.

They'll play to the end, 9 times out of 10. That's all you can ask.

Oh, you just stop.

If any franchise knows about "Indifferent Defense from Superstar Offensive Players," it's your favorite.

Granted, it's been awhile. But Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr weren't exactly killing themselves when the puck was going the other way

- AllInForFlyers

haha they didnt have to. the puck was usually on their tape for their entire shift.

to be fair. while he has never a defensive stalwart, OV wasnt this bad earlier in his career. he used to have at least 2 freight train hits a game. now he could care less. hell, he hardly even rushes the puck up ice anymore. usually just sits and waits for nicky to feed him. granted, its effective as all hell, but (frank) him.

I don't fire it anymore, since I got older and realized that I couldn't feel rage after every goal scored -- only took me about 20 years

Giroux was cold-blooded in the faceoff dot tonight.

Giroux's turnaround from the Edmonton game in November on has been great to watch. I said he wouldn't get 20 goals before that game and he might get 30. Very happy to have got that one dead wrong.

Ha! He nearly put Michael Raffl in orbit tonight -- his hands and stick were high, but he had Raffl on the trolley tracks

oh yeah. that was just a crappy streak to start that resulted in him pressing so much. dude is still a quality, quality player.

Little late since i dvr'ed the game, but...

This team is disgustingly maddening... They look AMAZING for 30+ mins and then look like utter poop the last 20.

I get that the other team is gonna make a run and it won't look like perfection but the difference in play was outstanding.

The most amazing hair pulling moment was the of course obligatory penalty after the Jake goal to make it 5-3. Are you (frank)ing kidding me? how often must they do that? and of course it leads to a goal.

They can never make it easy can they? Take the two points and please try and learn something from the meltdown that almost took place.

Claude Giroux now has 64 points in 63 games. He's 6th in the NHL in points, has 18 points in his last 11 games (9G 9A) and is just 6 points behind Phil Kessel who is 2nd in the NHL with 70 points.

Two things:

1) I've been wrong on the board, and I own it when I am. But I remember very clearly when they were struggling, and people were questioning the $8-plus million, and I said this: "That guy is the last person on this team to worry about, because he is a flat-out superstar."

2) I'm sad that he didn't go to Sochi, because I know he wanted to go. But that dude might tear the NHL a new one because he's still pissed

I defended him all along. The guy's been a PPG player for the past 4 years. You don't do that and forget how to play.

As for the bad captain poop, on October 22nd, Giroux told reporters that the Flyers would make the playoffs. They have gone 32-17-6 since that day

not to be the Richard, but he should be better than a PPG player. granted, it went out the window with the whole team being awful the first month. but next year, given a fresh slate. i would say he should be in the realm where he should be pushing mid 90s.
