honestly, i didnt really want vanek, moulson, or hemsky, but for the prices they went for, most definitely.

i wouldnt have liked that vanek deal for the pens, but a second and some rando prospect is entirely a different story. moulson didnt pull much either. i would have been a buyer at those prices.

im sure you guys have some mixed feelings on it depending on your point of view, but a third for a guy who wasnt going to play consistently and clearly wasnt in the long term plans isnt a bad pickup at all.

I dunno, we're probably all being a bit hasty with the predictions.

Mez traded for conditional pick(s?) to BOS...rumors are a 3rd that can turn into a 2nd, but nothing official.

Vanek and a 5th to MTL for a prospect whose name escapes me and a 2nd round pick. Both picks are voided if MTL misses the playoffs. The prospect seems to be one of those "Can only make it in the NHL in a top 6 role" guys; think Akeson but maybe some more skill? Either way, it's not exactly Druin. People around here were equating it to the Flyers giving up Laughton at one point. Not sure how many people agreed to that.

yeah hemsky was a great pick up. i like both of the pens little pickups. didnt get anyone for practically free, but they didnt get gouged and addressed areas of need as best they could without giving up a lot of assets. still was holding out hope for kesler though.

yeah i was able to follow up until about 145, 2 oclock. vanek was the big surprise to me. i honestly have no interest in trying to sign him for a mega deal this summer, but for a rental in the purest sense possible, id have been all over it for that cheap of a deal. same for moulson.
