TSN speculating Murray waits for Vanek to be dealt to boost Moulsons trade value. Makes sense

Wow, if Kesler turned down the Rangers, we know there's no way in hell he'd come here.

"Rangers had interest but were informed today that Ryan Kesler will not waive no-trade to come to New York, Post has learned."

EDIT: reading now that Pittsburgh is in on him. What could they give up for such a key guy?? Sheesh

i think yesterday was the big day.

i bet by the end of today, the only guy that's moved is moulson, and the return isn't as much as expected.

in ottawa, tim murray built his reputation at the draft, not at the trade deadline..........but who knows really.

i'd say it's either only moulson, or a complete meltdown.........4-5 (in addition to the 2 already gone) get moved.

Yeah, I think it'll be Moulson and someone small like Tallinder or McBain or something, and the return won't be spectacular (but anything is fine, Moulson obviously isn't interested in returning/terms of contract offers).

I'm betting that Kesler will be eating at Geno's tonight.

Moulson likely gets the better return either way, especially after the Olympics now.

i think the big return involving moulson, was the pick that accompanied him from new york.

i bet, at most, he gets you a late 1st and prospect......i can't see anyone paying much more than that, especially given how much his production has fallen when separated from tavares (as many people said it would)

Don't think its a good idea for Garth to wait for Vanek to be traded

IMO, vanek gets a much better return. he's shown that he doesn't need to play with a "star" to produce, while moulson has never done anything, really, without tavares.

vanek is clearly the more talented of the two, i don't the olympics will factor in to anyones decision.

I don't think anyone doubts that Vanek is a better player. I think what makes it tough is that his salary is higher. Also, both players will fetch #1's at the bottom of the first round as they would be going to quality teams. The Islanders will pay dearly for making this trade (although I kind of understand why they did).

I'm a Vanek fanboy and don't disagree that he has more talent, but Moulson works more. Even on this crappy team he looks good with mediocre talent around him.

I think those teams targeting a goal scorer will want his effort a bit more than Vanek, especially since they know what Vanek will be demanding for a contract in a couple months.

from what i've read, moulson's contract demands are going to be similar to vanek's. that being said, i think the popular belief is that vanek already knows where he wants to play (minnessota), so is a strict rental, while if you trade for moulson, you actually have a chance to resign him. that, imo, is the only thing that favours moulson over vanek, in terms of value.

personally, i love hard work, but skill (in terms of trade value) is gonna be worth more. now that being said, i think moulson will fetch a nice return, i just think vanek will fetch more. vanek seems, for teh most part, to be the player everyone wants, and moulson seems to be the prize for the runner up.

I don't get why you would think that Moulson's work is measurably different than Vanek's. Either way, I look at Vanek now and I see him fading in the same way that Iginla has faded because of the pounding he takes in front of the net. I love him but I think at some point he breaks down. I don't see that with Moulson.

Stewart, Moulson, Halak , Ehrhoff or Myers one of the two, not both.
Ennis or Hodgson, not both.
Perhaps Mcnabb, Adam and even Grigorenko could be parts of deals.
Tallinder for a 5th.
If Murray is not all talk, his stamp will be applied today.

I agree. I don't see him as all talk. A big win for us today could be an Ehrhoff trade. Not because we are better without him (guy is a stud d). Just because of all that we can get for him. I imagine Stewart won't be moved until next years deadline.

Have you ever heard of a GM who traded 9 players in the span of 7 hours..relax. His stamp won't be deadline day, this is his opening act (equally important I admit) but the real action will be this years and next years draft.

He made one move barely more than a Darcy stamp so far

Stash, one question. Did you honestly think the sabres want Kessler. We are in full bow up mode. Statements like this make me cringe and vomit thinking of darcy
