Yep, just dont know if Leipold is too fond of paying Backstrom his entire salary to sit at home for 2 more years.

If he's healthy, he'd be a good backup option and mentor for Kuemper. The question really is what happens with Harding and that probably factors into what they do with Backstrom.

This whole Harding situation is really putting this organization into a tough spot. We all want him to be healthy and starting in goal, but maybe stepping away from the game for awhile would be best for both sides. Such a poopty thing to deal with

Agreed. Hoping for the best, but there is always going to be this risk with him.

Its a great deal I think. Really adds to our top 6.

Yeah, honestly I've been saying lately that I wish Fletch would go after Moulson instead of Vanek. Guess I got my wish. Now they just need to re-sign him...

Very possible he resigns. Being surrounded by Parise, Pomi, Koivu & Suter could make him very comfortable. Should fit right in. Contract should be somewhere around 5. Pomi type. I'd be comortable with that.

All that said...that still leaves room for Vanek come July

Maybe, depending on what kind of contract he's expecting I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to it, but I think with the Moulson acquisition, the focus may be taken off of acquiring Vanek.

Fletch still has to consider renewals for Granlund, Coyle, Zucker Nino etc... I'm not sure adding another max deal in a Vanek would be beneficial for those re-signings.

I also have a feeling that Vanek could end up staying in Montreal. Depending on their level of success this post season..
