That's the kind of trade, if you're Winnipeg...you make it, sure. But you only get to trade guys like that once, so you better get exactly what you need.

Not revisiting JVR for Schenn, because trading a forward for a defenseman isn't automatically bad. But the Flyers needed a different kind of defenseman and they didn't get exactly what they needed -- and they don't get to trade JVR again

Debateable because at the time they had Carle, Timonen, and thought Coburn a better puck mover. What they needed at that time was a big shutdown crease clearing defenseman. It didn't become aparent they needed a puck mover on D until Carle left.

Schenn was only scrathed for like two games in his entire career in TO....Gardiner piss ed them off so much last year they stuck him in the AHL...although he was hurt for a bit too....

That really isnt that bad an offer IMO. As much as I like Schenn, Kesler is a different level. But I still feel like this puts pressure on Pitt to up ther off of Sutter +.

Anybody watching the Flyers play after New Jersey forechecked them to death, knew they needed another slow defenseman as much as I need another hole in the head.

I've got nothing against Luke Schenn, as a player, and you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but there's not a person on this Earth who will convince me that the Flyers got the right kind of defenseman for JVR

Flyers had an organizational need for good young defenseman. Whether that player was a puck moving offensive defenseman, or a defenseman like Luke Schenn.

My biggest guff was that JVR should have been moved for a young puck mover and not a defensive d-man.

It wasnt the greatest trade at the time, and is a terrible trade as of right now..
