Matt Cullen on waivers. That seems like the type of dumpster dive Lou would do an experienced veteran who won't cost a thing and can play the third line center over Loktionov ( all though he has been great on his new line )

I'm hearing MacT want at least a 2nd for Hemmer.
- TandA4Flames

Good luck with that Edmonton has tried to trade him every year for the past five years. You have to at least pretend that you want him before you throw him in a trash can.

Holy (frank) Larsson with the same amount of points as Tedenby in Albany but with 3 less games played I have officially given up on Teddy

No it isn't....and it's pretty obvious that most people haven't watched Hemsky play....

Using your thought process Merrill is a washout and worth what - A 6th round pick?

I would rather trade Marty and Salvador to Chicago (as per JJ's blog today) and try to get a pick/prospect back.
- Gambi99

Honestly, they would be doing us a favor by taking Salvador.

I know many of you guys don't want Cammi, and I can understand why. But what would it be worth if we took some of your junk? What about something like Cammi, and Wideman both at 50% retained for Salvador/Volchenkov +picks/prospects.

Wideman at under 3 million for say 3 years is a bargain, so at least you are getting one player that isn't going to be a rental. Plus we get help getting to the cap floor next year.

Got $22 section 211 tickets from Stubhub to cheer on a legend, our goalie, Martin Brodeur. Hope it's not his last game. I know many disagree, but I want him to stay. I want him to win. I'm not an idealist, but I need something to hope for besides a playoff birth. If only those 2 dreams could coincide.

I think St. Louis poses a huge threat to Chicago's shot at a repeat with Miller but you are right they will have a 25 or higher pick. If we get a first and it ends up being the 25th over all pick I wonder if our second with that first would be enough to move up higher in the first round though.
- blizzzard

You're not assuming we'd get a 1st rounder for Brodeur..

you're not getting our prospects for Cam. Yes it would be nice to take 1 of Salvador/Volchenkov, but if we're taking Wideman it's almost a wash. If we re-signed Cam+Wideman it would = a weak 2nd liner/3rd pairing dman with the same salary as the current combo of Salvador/Volchenkov- with 1 and 2 years left on their deals. So we'd be giving up picks/prospects to have the same cap hit, and similar mediocrity. At least there's an end in sight with Sal/Volch. I'll pass.

I don't see Cammi getting much more than a 2nd and a mid tier, and even then, Calgary has to retain a bit of salary. His stock has fallen. Might be a good trade partner for Calgary.

Allan Muir posted this on SI.com. Would be pretty cool if this worked out (assuming Nail doesn't "retire" and move back to Russia to "be with his family").

The Devils send Adam Larsson and a second rounder to the Oilers for Nail Yakupov: The noise out of New Jersey suggests that the Devils will be buyers with an eye on making the playoffs, but that feels like an out-of-character mindset for a team that’s always taken the long view of things. That’s why a deal along these lines might make more sense. New Jersey has depth on D, with Jon Merrill and Cam Severson in their system, but they really need a dynamic presence up front. Yakupov might need to recalibrate his defensive commitment in order to succeed with the Devils, but there’s no denying his offensive potential. In return, the Oilers would get a highly regarded prospect who projects as a skillsy, top-pair minute muncher.

Merril did a pretty good job on that 2-1, could of played it better but it was Greene who pinched up on the play and turned over and also didnèt get back in time. Also I don't think anyone thinks we can compete in play offs even if we add a legit scorer so adding Edler is stupid the whole point of making the play offs is not because we are ready to but to push the draft pick we have to forfeit as high up as possible. It would do wonder for Merril and Gelinas to get play off experience in and then see how much better they are for it come next season.

You're right. That was a terrible play by Greene. Blind pass. Threw the puck away. Can't do it.

I don't think that's the mind set though. Anything can happen once you get into the playoffs. New Jersey is certainly not the most talented team in the East and would likely be out-classed by a few teams. BUT

No one is going to want to play a physical team with a hot goaltender in a short series. Games get tough. Quickly.

For instance, every analyst out there thinks Chicago, Anahiem, and LA are the teams to beat out west. BUT

No one is going to want to play St. Louis in a short series. Stifling defense and a big game goalie? No thanks.

Now, the Blues are a superior team in terms of talent compared to NJ. However, the concept is the same once you get in the playoffs.

Kind of embarrassing that someone would publish that. First of all, the Devils have Damon Severson, secondly it's fair to anticipate that they will steer clear of Russian born players for the some time (See passing on Valeri Nichushkin in the draft), third and most importantly, Yakupov is probably the worst possible fit for a physical, aggressive, forechecking, puck control system.

Nice work.

Just like there's a chance they'll lose the next two to Detroit and take themselves out of the picture all together.

Kinda embarrassing that somebody buys into the stupid russian crap.

I'm not sure if you were aware but we traded our first for Schneider. And before you say that we could have drafted Nichushkin instead, the deal was agreed to before the draft started and they announced it during our pick.

Lol right, they probably don't make more money over there. They're all just home sick....Radulov, Demitra, Kovalchuk and Jagr probably just missed mom's homeade lasagna....

Not sure if you're aware, but they knew about Kovalchuk before the draft....and before the Schneider trade. So, at that point they likely turned away from Nichushkin.

Try not to take everything so personally. Stick to hockey you could. I have no appreciation for the unsolicited sarcasm
