which playoffs are you thinking of out of curiousity?
09-10?
yup.. he took a back seat to halak that year.. still played half the regular season games and did get into 4 games during the post season.
i would argue, since he played half the regular season games the Habs considered them a 1A 1B tandem, and they rode the hot hand in the playoffs.
Price was never a full time back up in the NHL. you can make the argument for the one post season sure, but when comparing him to Bernier's role, not even close to the same. |

yes, but Halak played a couple more games and became #1 for the playoffs and then they traded their #1 away - Garnie
the playoff part is true.. Price played 41 games that year.. exactly half the season. |

Oh but Bruce, you are wrong....2009/10 he was Halak's backup because he lost the starter's job
Ah didn't answer quick enough. NVM - mykokes
a back up with 41GP
sure boys.
that was a tandem, and the coach went with the hot hand in the post season
this is the last time i will say this btw.
to say bernier and price have had similar NHL careers is flat out absurd.
truthfully.. i'd take price over bernier in a heart beat. bernier is good.. but price is just that much better. |

Not sure I understand why Orr wasn't sent down...but sure!
Bolland this week then? |

yeah I know, some how it shows Halak playing 45, must be from going in for relief or being yanked. The playoffs Halak played 18 games...Price missed more than 4 games in the playoffs. I think? The #'s got me all |

I agree I'd take Price too..can't really compare, maybe if Price was selected by a team with Quick he might not have been a starter as soon either. Just maybe..not trying to argue...different teams/different management/different strategy, definitely different language

yeah.. halak was the better of the two that year.. no doubt about it..
i just saw someone trying to argue that bernier and price had similar roles early in their career and thats simply not even close to being true.
in 4 seasons with the kings bernier got into 55 games
price eclipsed that before christmas in his second season. |

So when we send Orr to the flames, we will have Gleason, Clarkson, some AHL guy (bodie, devane, broll, ashton), and phaneuf all capable of fighting |
|

Guess the leafs don't want to be tough anymore. They`d prefer to be bullied by the bruins day in and day out. Right on. - Seitch2
Yeah really, I guess Tim Gleason is their enforcer now, which has worked out well. He got knocked out by Eric boulton. |

oh yes.. if bernier and price had flipped draft positions then the opposite could be true
but as per what actually happened.. price was used far more than bernier was at the top of their careers.
its not even debatable. |

He's had a hip problem for a while, and every off season they say he's going to get surgery, and then he doesn't. - Feeling Glucky?
Well if it's really injury related, he better get it fixed before every team in the league realizes what a useless turd he has become |

hmmmm, was Price ever a starter before joining the Canadiens?
The answer: in the AHL. - mykokes
I didn't know if he ever played the role of #1 in L.A.
Price took the #1 from Huet almost right away and has never looked back. Even during the halak/price nonsense he was always our #1.

As I said hard to compare, Habs traded away Price's competition and LA didn't. I do believe Price is better, but he wasn't the greatest when he came in, glove problems - I watched lots of Hab games back then I used to always bug my buddy about Prices catching blocker (frank)er couldn't catch to save his life it seemed |
