I just find it odd that we're obsessing about Phaneuf making a few too many bucks (maybe 5% too much) when only 4 of our 12 forwards are currently earning their salaries.

The top line plus Raymond. That's it. And the only reason Raymond qualifies is because he makes damn near league min.

Want to female dog about Phaneuf being 0.2 mil overpaid or whatever? Okay, go ahead. But let's first sort through the list of guys ahead of him in that category.

Nobody cares about Lupul's deal, even though it's worse. People are still willing to give Clarkson a pass. Overpaying top talent isn't the same as overpaying mediocrity (and there are probably at least 6-8 guys on this roster for whom that applies).
