Need to consider that Kessel has played nearly 40 extra games over Malkin, though. - Colin Dambrauskas
Oh dam he only second, shucks. |
|
|
|
(frank), he's got a 1/2 season more games than Malkin though
but only 1 more point - Garnie
But look at other guys on that list with comparable games to Kessel (and less points):
Giroux, Tavares, St.Louis, Ovechkin, Kane, Thornton, Getzlaf, Sedins.
How anyone can say that Kessel is not elite is beyond me. |

last year: missed 39 games
2010-11 - missed 20 games
2009-10: missed 22 games
2006-07: missed 15 games
2005-06: missed 14 games
1: we dont need a top 6 centre
2: in carlyle's play the body first game he wouldnt last a week. - Dozzer
right. it can be spun any number of ways. if we're looking at it that way, he's missed 20 or more games 3 times in his 10 year nhl career? he's had one season that was significantly affected by injury, and it was a shortened one.
the idea that this group could use a top flight center if it ever plans on seriously contending for a championship is far easier to debate for than against. would spezza be making their top 6 worse? ...
it's not like the leafs don't have any soft players that haven't managed to make a week in Carlyle's system... |

Malkin and Crosby are in a different league of their own - 1.303P/GP and 1.466P/GP. Doesn't hurt when they get to play from time to time with each other as well. |

Not sure I want Spezza, I guess it depends on the cost...but I'm not a fan of his game...hate the (frank)ing blind drop pass he seems to love. |

Kessel could be in better shape, for an elite superstar NHL forward... I don't entirely know how he's so fast considering that little boiler he rocks in the summer. |

K we need to add Crosby in there as well then. He's obviously #1 then. |

He thinks he's good enough (i can see why). But you're right, he could be in much better shape. Terrible work ethic i hear. And that "crazy in between the legs dangle" subban did. Watch Kessel just turn away. Lol. (frank)in hit him. |

Well, like I mean, are we going by ppg or just simply points? Cause just points means that Crosby is a terrible player over the past three years. |

Those can't be close to a franchise player numbers? nah.. lol - LeafMan
Nope.
The only good player on there is Toews...or as Rob Ford likes to call him...Twos.
The rest suck.
And by suck, I mean are pretty freakin awesome, but just not as good as Toews. |

I think it's moot. he would never be traded down the 401.
i do think he's type of center would put the leafs well on the path to contender status.
of course there's more prevalent issues. putting bandaids on the blueline won't win the team a championship this season. the team needs growth, and it needs to add big game pieces along the way. a legitimate top 6 forward, and actual top pairing defenseman are automatic to me. |

I'd be happy with the top pairing D right now
I think our forwards would be fine if the backend had a tad bit more help. |
