YES!!

That "D" is not good enough to ice a playoff contender with. That's my point. Who's abutting any top line down on that "D"?

Not to the Islanders. All kidding aside Vanek at this point should just keep his facking mouth shut. I don't disagree with him but he's no Crosby and he's not even close to top ten in this league. Does he think Minnesota is some powerhouse? I liked the guy here, thought he did a good job but shut your mouth on the way out. Have a little class even if you're right some things are better off not said. It's bad enough his agent went public with his rejection of the contract. Shut your mouth Vanek.

Would be shocked if Reinhart is not on the team. The Isles want any hope to land a top FA, they need a proven coach. They need to change the perception it is not the same Islanders.
- ses111

This is exactly what they need to do for there to be positive change. Complete overhaul with new faces and a new slate. Everyone around the NHL has to be able to say, "No that was Snow or Milbury it wasn't (insert name)". This team gets zero respect from around the league and with good reason. They are run horribly and have been for quite some time. The faces have to change in order for the way the team is viewed to change.

i believe with a new QUALITY goalie and a REAL coach, that defense is a playoff contender.

I think so too but it would largely depend on what type of ufa dman fills that open slot

This sums it up......

Islanders: Vanek said if team was in "top echelon" he might stay. "I can tell you that winning does make a big difference."

- Ur Not Me

That comment speaks volumes to me. Vanek clearly does not believe in the direction of this team and if that comment spreads throughout the league itmakes this fiasco worse than the Ryan Smyth dibacle by miles. It's bad enough his agent devalued his client's trade return, now he's further handicapping the teams free agency hunt. AMAZING.

Soo much for Vanek keeping the Isles in mind on 7/1. Made no sense to bring Vanek in and let the season fall apart in November. How did the team expect to win this guy over that way?

I said from the day that trade was made that I liked it BUT Snow needed to shore up other areas to make the deal a "good" one(having him resign). He failed and we are now seeing the after effects and why I said what I did the day that trade was made.

Offers so far for Andrew MacDonald reflect how most GMs see him: on a top-10 team, he's a good 3rd pair dman.

Vanek was probably thinking why the frak did they bring me in if they were not going to do anything else? The Islanders acted like he was the last piece of the puzzle and did not need anything else.

If he had an idea what our defense was like I'm guessing this is exactly what he was thinking and probably has a lot to do with him not signing with us.

Here's a nice comment about Wang

Vinny Piccolo ‏@RoseTintedVisor · 32m
Wang is scum. He defrauds his childrens charity. He tried to make a land grab with #Isles, failed & we're paying for it every damn day since

When the Trade Dead line is over Wednesday afternoon. I have a distinct feeling that many Isles fans are going to be extremely disappointed.

I just dont think Vanek brings back what most here think he's worth. Or what Snow thinks he can get.

I doubt we'll see another Campoli type return for A Mac.

I dont see much return for Bailey, Nabby, C. MacDonnald either.

The expendable players on the roster that I believe could bring back the quality we need are Nielsen and Viz. Maybe a package that includes Vanek or AMac gets us a solid piece that we desperately need.

With JT, Cizikas, Strome, & Nelson. Nielsen is expendable.

please don't say that... Amack will not get anywhere near 5 mill a year as a UFA. I don't see him getting 4 a year. trade him and if you really want him back .. Garth can offer him 3.5 for 4 years and it will be by far the best offer.

I'm not so sure? I'll believe it when I see it. I don't think the rest of the league is that blind.

You have to take into consideration that Snow has lack of respect around the NHL, so yes if another person is the GM, quite possible the D could be/look a lot better

This is a good bet but I think the question is it bcs of the players value or is it due to Snow making the trade? I can care less what we get for AMAC as long as he's gone. That's all that matters. Vanek has value and I have a hard time understanding why some Isles fans underestimate the guys it? Wondering why some fans are doing this? Is it bcs they have no faith in the man trading him?

Hard not to think this SCLI. I agree about moving Nielsen. Vish I would move now as well. I would be very surprised if Amac brought back a #1.

Mostly the player's value and the fact that it appears Vanek wants to minimize his return. Honestly what kind of return would you expect from Bailey?

Maybe something from the other GMs that deal with the man.
