Brown's watching the Bruins-Rangers tonight. As to why the Flyers would be interested in MacDonald, I don't know. He'd be an upgrade in some respects, but if they really want that high a price for him, I would look elsewhere or stand pat.
- Jsaquella

everyone has such a high price tag attached. nothing is reasonable anymore, although i guess that technically shifts the paradigm of what should be considered reasonable or not. still pisses me off

In the end it's all about size. Also, Gus has decent offensive tools, but nothing really jumps out as above average. That's why I really can't wait for Ghost to turn pro and see how his game translates at the professional level. I hope he gets a cup of coffee in the AHL this year.

Gus really has issues getting his shot through. When you watch the Krugs bartowskis of the world hes just not making the crisp decisions

Size is a factor, too...or maybe more accurately strength. Gus can get pushed around. One name the rumor mill has mentioned with the Flyers is Mike Weaver, a 5'9" 185 lber from Florida. He's little, but he's playing 18 minutes a night for Florida, seeing a ton of time on special teams and blocks a ton of shots.

I could see the flyers pulling the plug on Gus this deadline, or the draft. Its a shame hes getting a bit of a raw deal

It's way too quiet in the flyers camp. Went from hearing small rumors about Kessler, edler, buff etc, to nothing. Could mean they are working on something big, or could mean that the are doing nothing. Guess we"ll see soon.

Why do I get the feeling you want them to do something big

It's hard because of parity and because teams seem to fear losing the deal...If the Isles traded MacDonald for a couple of seconds, people will say they sold low. Right now, there's no rush for them. They're just waiting for somebody to blink, because the supply is much smaller than the demand

As long as he's not given away, I'm fine with it. Fill a need or get a decent pick for him.

I could too and he is getting a raw deal...why does he feel like one of those guys we will give up on just to have him star for someone else

oh yeah. i understand everyone is just way too close in the standings. and just the lack of hockey trades anymore is pretty depressing. but yeah. its not just sour grapes, but a few weeks of doug murray isnt worth 2 second rounders. a few weeks of macdonald isnt worth a first.

i get the term worth is flexible based upon only what people are willing to pay. but the norm is just for the value to be so skewed anymore

Real penalty would let him play Wednesday...old school hockey like Eddie Shore

Gus would have to clear waivers, so the AHL isn't a realistic option. The kid needs to play, but Berube seems to be more willing to bench Gustafsson for his mistakes more than other defensemen.

I mean, I look at Schenn's play today, and Grossmann on that second goal and I wonder why the Hell they stay in over Gustafsson...sure he might not be great in his own end, but Schenn and Grossmann hardly looked like Rod Langway and Scott Stevens today.

- Jsaquella

They both stay in the lineup over Gustafsson because they are much better players obviously.

Yep. That's why I'd still like the Flyers to sell. I'd be good with moving any of their UFAs, including Timonen.I personally wouldn't be bringing any of them back, so might as well grab some assets for them.

I'm surprised they didn't toss him...if it was a more lopsided game when he got the penalty, they may well have.

His deal is a little bit more manageable but we wouldn't give much to bring them back. Maybe that's why St. Louis is so pissed!

Not sure you can at this point. Every team in the East has glaring weaknesses. The team is on a roll.

They can, for sure. They won't because it's the Flyers. I understand it, and it's not necessarily wrong.

If they can Mez, Im fine with that as long as it brings back a 2nd. Kimmo makes little sense to trade. You cant just flush the toilet on the season after all the hard work the team has put it since the coaching change. It doesnt work like that.

yeah. the assets that can be brought in would be ridiculous. a first for timonen. probably at least a third for mez. another for downie.

That's the thing, the Flyers have a bad game and we're all miserable...but every team in the East has the potential to get their clocks cleaned and get knocked out, outside of maybe Boston.
