Interesting on the broadcast, they mentioned Berube believes Raffl will be a goal scorer in a top 6 role. I just wonder if they have dropped him on the 4th
line to let him stress his defensive responsibilities. I just can't see him staying on the 4th line in the playoffs.

- ravishingone

If I member correctly Wellwood played his way up the line up in the playoffs because he forechecked hard and used his speed well. I can see that happening wit Raffl too

Ive always hated her

He's a smart hockey player, though -- if he can still skate well enough, he could help a team like ours on the fourth line, where we need to not make stupid mistakes with and without the puck

That's how I see it, but for whatever reason, people look like they can't wait to give away a ton of assets for a 29-year-old player who has had two hip surgeries and reconstructive shoulder surgery

Kes is a winner

A few years ago he was the main reason they beat Nashville in a playoff series.

But do the Pens need a top 2 center?

Outside of the future cap implications, the deal Rob Rossi mentioned last night sounds good for the Pens. Kesler can play on Crosby's wing now, and then they have the big three down the middle again next season.
- Jsaquella

im in the middle over it with Kesler. it all depends on the price of acquiring him. he doesnt fix everything, but he can really really help. i loved the 3 center model, but this time there are no cookes or kennedys. while he is an improvement over sutter, hes still going to be centering larry and curley essentially.

but the ice time will be there for him. at least marginally improving the bottom six just by his presence, and the ability to hopefully play with crosby from time to time. cap wise, its not a small number, but for a player of his ability it is damn fine.

but the cost of acquisition is a sticking point. the names maatta or neal cant be involved.

WHo won? I imagine he's been frustrating Bennett for a while now.

More the other way around tonight, Bennett has been more physical today than any time I've watched him this season.

So this Heritage Classic is being played in a dome? What's the point?

OK there is 50k people there. I guess the point is to sell an additional 30k tickets.

If I were the Canucks I would want Neal for Kesler.

The trade proposal I read is a bit slanted for the Pens.
Of course the risk is Kes getting injured, which is real.

I would have zero issue with adding Scott Gomez. It isn't going to cost you more than a 6th rounder and immediately makes the 4th line not look so crappy.

Good for him. Didn't you say Laughton's been getting the best of him in most match ups?

The best roster player involved would be Sutter. They're not going to move Maatta or Neal, the Pens are looking for a last piece, not a retool

Well, the dome can open, but it's a torrential downpour and rain is bad for the ice, even more than snow
