K, so not surprised he's traded for picks....anyone else surprised by the Quality of the picks? I sorta figured the return would be a little better, like maybe a 2nd.

Dale wins this trade, but he's still paying half of Versteeg's salary for the next two seasons.

The comments sections on Facebook from a few different news sources about the trade are really (frank)ing out there. It makes me glad I post here.

A continuation of the Versteeg deal? I guess, Stan kinda owed him one.

Eh, Florida's second rounder is more likely to be an NHL player the Pirri IMO. Second rounders become career NHLers about a quarter of the time, and being so bad its pretty close to a first rounder, Pirri's not worth that.

I am. Pretty worthless picks. Looking more & more like Slowzus & the Mighty Regin will be PO mainstays.

I guess you have to be one of Q's guys. There is no way in hell Handzus or Regin are better players than Pirri. In fact Pirri is better than Versteeg as well. He got a raw deal, and I hope he has a great career down in Fla. Its a shame he wasnt given a fair shake.
- lemieux26

This is a classic Pirri post. Why do you have to be one of Q's guys? Stan demoted him and traded him.

I'll bite.

Don't you think the organization gives him instruction, like "work on your two way game"? Part of developing players is giving them constructive feedback, and I can't believe the organization wouldn't want him to succeed. Watch Shaw, Kruger, Bollig and Smith...they all focus on D. Pirri is likely a better offensive talent than Kruger, but his game doesn't suit Q. Fair shake? I would've liked the kid to fill the 2nd line C role, but it's not happening here

I'm just curious why the only teams the hawks apparently trade with are Florida and Winnipeg

Pretty hard to not laugh when 80% think its a deal to save cap space. And should have received 2 1st.

He did say no major deals. And to everyone but TG and US, it isn't.

Because those are 2 of the 3 teams whose GM's know our personnel best, the third being Montreal.

That first NHL goal is always a special moment. I am going to have to go with that. It was tough though.

I get it. It was more of a rhetorical. I figure there was a place for him in places like Buffalo, Calgary...to name a few

Really don't think Calgary or Buffalo are in the giving up picks market at the moment though. The Canucks might not have been a bad spot.
