The only trade I want to see now is getting Kessler before Pittsburgh gets him. Kane has already ask for him to be his Center. They should use Bickell, Morin and anyone else in Rockford to get this guy. - Maggie
From reading the Canuck thread it sounds like Gillis is asking for the farm in return for Kesler.

I don't think this really applies to the idea we are discussing. - EKolb13
Interesting. As draft choices I am pretty sure they aren't allowed to sign PTOs If they play anywhere in the Hawk organization they would have to sign a contract. Therefore they would count against the 50 max limit. at least, I think so. |

That's not true at all.
Garrett Ross did the same thing last season. Ended his season in Saginaw and came to Rockford on a PTO. A week before the season was done, he signed an ELC that started the season after.
Its happened before with other players whether or not they were draft picks. |

Their point was that Pirri leaving clears the way for TT to be the 2C for the Hawks later this year or start of next. My point is that Pirri was not at all in TT's way. |

C'Mon Savvy...Nick grew up playing in that crap....Seabs never saw any snow in B.C. and it looked like his brain and hands froze at the same time
- philco28
I just thought it was pretty funny. And it was like as Seabs took the "shot" he realized -- "oh phuck, what have i just done" -- I mean it was really funny seeing the look on his face.
Mind you, it's always the guy left hanging that gets it up the azz -- Keith phucked around with the puck and then Shaw does not get the puck out after Keith has fun with it. So it was kind of a perfect storm.
There was nothing notable about Leddy's performance last night other than I think he was playing things pretty safe and didn't do anything notably dumb. Then you realize at the end of the game he's had a decent game and is plus 3.
But, as always, we were looking for another topic to argue about -- so I figured that this was easy. |

#Blackhawks trade Brandon Pirri to Florida for a 2014 third-rounder and a 2016 fifth-rounder. Commence Internet freakout. - philco28

Another angle to the trade: Pirri was not going to play unless everyone else was injured, and that cast would be Regin, Handzus and maybe even Nordstrom. So since Pirri was not going to likely find ice time in the playoffs, why not clear his space at Rockford so that someone else can take on a more meaningful role on the Icehogs? You know the players who can play center at the Rock. Now add an open forward spot for Hayes. Bowman wants to see how Hayes looks but that would be jeopardized when you have too many forwards deserving a lot of TOI. Now more TOI available in the Icehogs lineup even for late season and AHL playoffs for TT?
If a late add to the NHL roster can't Bowman put someone on inj reserve with an exaggerated hurt. E.g Brookbank. In this scenario the inj player can still return for playoffs |

One angle that hasn't been discussed is that this opens up a slot for another contract. IIRC the Hawks now have 48 organisational contracts. So one of Johns, Hayes or whomever can be signed if Stan and co. decide to do that now. - prd797

TT is already signed - he's one of the 50. Didn't need to trade Pirri to sign anyone - they traded him because they think he sucks. And the beat writers were pretty specific that this gives TT an opening at 2C. Quit being argumentative, Burish. |
