Ok, so let's recap:

The outdoor game in Vancouver is today indoors because of the weather.

So - the 54,000 fans who paid probably premium prices in anticipation of a fun outdoor game have really paid extra for an indoor game with dramatically worse sight-lines than at the BC Place?

Is that about it?

- StLBravesFan

Another Sage error: Rogers Arena is the home indoor rink, BC Place is where today's game was.

Where was #87 last night? Other than losing the opening face off to Taser he was essentially a non factor last night and Taser was arguably the best player on the ice. Maybe the Canadian media will start to mention J.T. in the same breath as Crosby.

I like the Vancouver throwbacks...alot.

But I realize that look aint' everyones cup o' tea.

I'm always amazed that anyone likes the Colorado Avs look, and I've seen it rated by some as the best in the NHL. I consider it perhaps the worst...as bad as Nashville.

Sorry, those things are freaking awful. They look like they were inspired by a bad cheerleader outfit.

They are Classic. If they wore them every day they'd be the 7th best uni in the league. Sorry, but Jesus has spoken.

Boy, how times change:

Just a year ago, we were referring to Saad as Jesus.

It was more about the protective under shell. I am sure there are better terms to describe it, but you put the cooperalls in place of pants, was a more thorough and complete protection for legs and ass/ front and back. The long pants or shorts were just decorative, a thin outer coating to coordinate with uniform.

I had the Cooperall protection with short pants cover. I will defer to others on thier experience or why they disappeared. I definately felt safer in them vs regular pants....

Are those protection for guys who leak a little?

Still wearing a pair, TG. They are hovering on their last thread, so to speak. I've been (from time-to-time) taking needle and heavy thread to them to keep the girdle (that is really what it is called) together. It's a breathable mesh (at least the top line ones were at the time) and it has been slowly but surely, shredding. The mesh has to hold all the pads in there (thigh pads, kidney pads, groin pads, etc).

I played on several teams and had several shells matching the team I was playing for. This was the main attraction for me at the time -- instead of buying several (at least 2) pairs of pants at $100+ each, I could get away with the girdle and the shells/pants were somewhere in the neighborhood of $30 ea.

I always hated playing on a team with pants that totally collided with the colors of the team I was playing for.

Over time, got to love them because they were not simply hanging there but fit as part of your body's movements and they DID provide much better protection. I'd say today's pants are probably just as protective.

And there are a few co's that still make the girdle and separate shells for cover. I've tried a few different ones on and while they clearly would provide even more protection, they seem to be almost TOO much. Hence, the needle and thread routine!

Anyway, there are still some guys including me that wear them -- although today I've simply gone with a black pant shell regardless of what team I am suiting up for.

What are you?...the sweater nazi? I thought I made my point clear...

..."But I realize that look aint' everyones cup o' tea."

As for inspiration, that would be the "original" Millionaire uniforms from a century ago.

The impenetrable Ryan Miller has given one up three minutes into his first game. Ott providing sandpaper, though, so everything is good.

The Blues already won the Cup earlier this weekend, so they don't need to worry about defensive effort.

A lot of pressure on a goalie traded to be the missing piece: except for Vancouver in 2010, Miller has never faced much pressure to win.
