All fan bases are pretty bad for over-valuing their own players. And almost nobody proposes a trade that isn't a slam dunk win for their team. The other thing I find funny is "meets both teams needs ,scenarios". For example, one of my favorites is when someone suggests you give them a first line player for a 2nd pairing defenseman, because "Your'e team needs a 2nd pairing D-man".
By that logic Eberle for Robin Regehr is a fair deal.

I freaked out in a bad way when I heard about it, I kept wanting to hear Kassian + another decent asset coming our way but nope. Finally this year I've come around on it, Kassian has taken a step forward under Torts with the other forwards struggling. He's already a good 3rd liner and is showing top 6 flashes. I liked Hodsgon, but I thought his defensive game would have improved more by now, he's starting to remind me of Sam Gagner honestly, he's getting top line minutes and PP time so it's hard to compare his offensive numbers to Kassian who overall has been getting 3rd line minutes and minimal PP time.

Fair comparison, and there's nothing really wrong with either player, but line mates become a concern with those types of midgets.
