Hemsky is a lot like Crosby in the sense that he's difficult to play with.....even long time linemates don't know what he's going to do. This has been a problem over the years for Pittsburgh and Edmonton .....I'm not so sure it would be a good idea to add another player like that to their roster. |

His real moves will most likely be made in the off season. Theres really no point in doing it now. - eerie13
I respectfully disagree. Edmonton is going nowhere this season. Making some meaningful moves before the deadline would certainly go along way towards making a more suitable destination for UFA's. IMO. MacT shows players that he's serious about building a playoff competitive team and maybe he snags that UFA that was previously off the radar.
I mean do you really think any UFA's are going to willingly come to Edmonton with the roster they have right now? 7 years drought since last playoff birth with no rain in sight? |

Garth, is that you? - Symba007
If the Oilers win the lottery (again), Sabres fans will somehow think that the 2nd overall pic is worth more than the Oilers 1st overall. Just the way it is.
Sabres Lottery Pick = Taylor Hall
Oilers Lottery Pick= Matt Moulson
Ryan Miller= Oilers Lottery pick, Yakapov, Nurse.
Steve Ott= Darnell Nurse, Nail Yakapov
Erhoff= Eberle, Nurse,Our Lottery pick
Sam Gagner= 3rd round pick
Hodgkins= 1st round pick
Ales Hemsky=4th round pick
Tallinder= 1st round pick.
....just their view on the world, we are used to it.

Okay, so who in their right mind is going to give up a top D heading into the playoff's? There are maybe 5-7 teams that are out of it right now, the rest have a shot.
The players we need are at their highest value at this time of the year don't you know? |

Whoa, if you are getting Moulson, its going to cost you 10X more than just the Lottery pick.
Talk about overvaluing your players. |

I think you need to have a close look at what exactly has happened in the last four years. Before Mac T took over, Tambo added exactly zero players of significance. Not one, in 3 years. It's obvious to Oilers fans that a bunch of prospects and rookies are not just going turn the team around. Tambo figured we could just wait until 23 prospects or drafted rounded out the roster.
Mac T has recognized that we need veterans to round out the depth positions.
You have not given Mac T any credit for the positive additions of Ferrence, Gordon, Bryz, Scrivens, and HenRichards. Not stars, but upgrades to what we had.
Getting a top 4 D is going to be tough. We heard all the talk about trading one of the young guns for one, but all we really get is offers for okay,solid but not spectacular defensemen. If and when that deal presents itself, if it makes sense, I have no doubt he will pull the trigger. - Jeropotato
Fair enough. Although I'm not sure we can really count our chickens yet in regards to Ferrence, Scrivens and Bryz. Upgrades? Sure, but merely band-aids at this point until this team starts moving in the right direction.
But a fair point nonetheless.
So just for the sake of discussion(for fun), as a card carrying fan of the Oil, would you ever endorse a trade involving either RNH or Hall if it brought back enough in return? If so how much, how little? (being realistic) Top 2 d-man, top 4 forward, picks/prospects, world class Goalie? |

Of course I would. I would trade any player on the Oilers if it made our team better in the short and long term. The Price is pretty high though, as I expect RNH to be a top 10 Center in this league, and we wont be able to replace him easily. Hall already is a top 5 LW.....Eberle, Yak ,Perron and Gagner would be gone yesterday if it improved our club.
A trade for RNH would have to guarantee us top Center in return, as well as a solid top 4 D in his prime. Maybe not a top 10, but someone who could play on the Top line and not be out of place. Someone like M.Koivu or M.Hanzal.....not someone like Tyler Bozak or Tomas Plekanec.
Hall would command a better return and is somewhat easier to replace, but the price would also be high. |

cant believe im saying this ..but I actually agree with you..no way is Myers worth both Eberle And Yak..maybe one of them but it would be more like Myers plus for Eberle or Yak..ok back to hating each other |

The thing is, value to the Oilers is different than value to other clubs. RNH is clearly our current and future 1st line Center. On other clubs, like San Jose, Pittisburgh, Anaheim, etc...he is clearly lower on the depth chart, and would remain their for several years. |

he is a good kid..but hes a kid,he should have developed matured and beefed up a bit before getting the jump to number 1 centre on a horrible team |

You are right. Tyler Bozak is an elite center.Right up there with Getzlaf and Malkin. I think you need to mellow the (frank) out. Smoke a joint or something. - Jeropotato
