I honestly think Isles will get more for Vanek than most think.. even though he is a "rental".. he could be the difference in a cup for teams like Kings, Ducks, Pens, etc. If I am their GM I am giving up a lot to get him... so the other teams don't..

Pens especially with Dupius done for season.

Funny thing about Boulton. As much as we groan when he's in the lineup, he actually seems to play with decent energy and has at least 1-2 decent scoring opportunities per night by crashing the net the way he does. At this point I think he plays a better role for us than Colin McDonald.

In regards to Lee. Both he and Nelson will really change the dynamic of this team up front next year. Even with the loss of Vanek, I kinda like what I see in terms of our group of forwards next year. Solidifying goaltending an adding a decent top four guy on defense could improve this team by leaps and bounds.

When considering the size of Lee, Nelson, Reinhart, Mayfield and a couple of others, we're actually shaping up to be a big and fast team in the not-so-distant future.

I've been saying it all year Boulton has out played McDonald the whole year. Now with Halmo getting a look I don't see a spot on this team for McDonald next year. I hope they bring Boulton back for the same role next year

And playing a goalie every game that cannot lift his glove hand is? Poulin probably is not the answer. Still rather he get some games in than Nabby getting every game. Like keaner wrote, maybe he can be included as a thrown in? How does sitting him on the bench help?
- ses111

It don't help but this is the Islanders and nothing makes sense with them. Right now you go with the best option and NAbby is the best option we have. Poulin flops like a fish and has given up a lot of bad goals this year. We just need to ride Nabby. He did make some pretty good saves last night

You have and I agree.. on both points. I have been a seller of Colin Mcd for a while.

I am still anoyed we did not have Ullstrom on this team this year.

Boulton has done a nice job this year. McDonald should be the odd man out.

Ullstrom yeah I miss him. I think we can trade Macdonald in part of a package. He would be worth something to some team

The future looks real good with the size and skill off guys like Lee, Nelson, Reinhart, Mayfield. Especially if a proven coach is added. That needs to be job #1 this offseason.

We are talking about Wang and Snow here. They will go with the cheapest option. Wont be surprise if DP is our next coach

A-mack's blocked shot on the open net with less than a minute was a game saver last night. Hopefully one of the teams thinking about trading for him saw it.

It's just the fact of wasting young players. We've seen too many young players take off on other teams. It worries me if Nabby is the backup next year. What if the #1 guy gets hurt? Is Nabby going to be able to run with it being a year older?

I was very impressed with both Halmo and Lee. Halmo was noticeable in his first shift with a big hit. He was good all game. Lee looks so solid on his skates. Like a rock, and his skating has improved.

Grabner and Boulton (yes, Boulton) also looked very good.

It's great to have something to look forward to in these last 20 or so games.

Someone who has been under the radar bad this year is Matt Martin. Yes he finishes his hits but does he throw a lot of hits that change momentum or does he bring anything else? He needs to up his game because right now I'd rather see Boulton out there

Was 7 years $62 million for Vanek the cheapest option? How about Hamonic's contract?
I don't think they function on the cheap with EVERYTHING, but they're only willing to pony-up on something they thoroughly believe in.

Agreed..He's brought very little to the table. Frankly that whole fourth line has been a disappointment.

Same here. Martin needs to find a way to add more offense to his game.
