Nice no- show by the boys today. Looks like LaFontaine resigned in Buffalo. I'm sending a trend with him...

Lafontaine has some issues.

Looks bad on him... who would ever hire him in the future.

as Don Cherry said...the GM shouldn't do a trade without advising the President....may be too many layers having the owner , president and GM but thats the way the have it. I can't blame him for being pissed..its a business, chain of command is in place....he got the big snub and he stood up for principle....I dont put all this on LaFontaine fire Garth and hire Pat....

Based on Pat's rich history as a GM? Pass.
I'm not sure of the whole story but this looks bad on Pat. Word was he didn't even like Neil Smith at the time but left because he felt his opinion wasn't respected enough. Now he's doing it all over again. He can't always be a victim.

What happened in the third? Why is Hamonic suspended?

Got an instigator penalty with less than 5 minutes to go in game.

I can't remember the last time a guy got an instigator and fighting major without throwing a single punch

He threw a punch...no issue with penalties. Think the rule is dumb. This wasn't a guy gooning it up, he was defending a teammate

Was it about how Patty's never been a GM?

Pat had the chance to be the GM in Buffalo and did not think he was right for it. To me this is on Pat. GM needs to be able to make his moves. The Miller trade seems like a good one to me. The talk is Pat wanted to re-sign Miller. No way Miller wanted to stay. The right move was to trade Miller.

They sure handed out that suspension fast enough. Not only do they lack consistency in their decisions, their timelines are erratic as well.

I cannot believe after what went down with the Isles, that Patty would let things blow up in Buffalo. Hang around for a few years and let Murray do his thing. If you are not happy then leave. It's the same issue I had with Neil Smith. You took the job and give it some time to make it work and then leave if you still are not happy.

The instigator rule is stupid. I've always said if you're so worried about brawls, suspend the third man in for a month, and anyone who comes off the bench for the remainder of the season, but if someone needs to be made to answer the bell for something he's done, that shouldn't be a penalty on the guy who makes him answer it. Just asinine...

Yeah, you know what? Sometimes it's not all Charlie Wang needing a psychiatrist around here. Other people sh*t next to their own food dish, too. That said, I still think the real problem with THIS franchise is loyalty- Charles is loyal to anyone who is loyal to him, regardless of how incompetent that person might be.....thus, the coach.....

I'm still ticked bout how it went down here with Pat....but I also was a huge fan, he is a great guy.But all that aside going from what I heard, yes we still only heard this stuff yet most are throwing the guy under the bus, I don't sit here and critisize the guy for standing up to his principles....at times that outweighs the ridicule you know you will get.He may not have wanted to trade Miller, but agreed it is not his job....but you don't find this out by chance. Any corporation has a process and communcation method...just because they knew he didn't want to make the trade you don't keep it from him (thats if what cherry says happened happened). On top of that he didn't make a big scene in leaving or be classless in the media about it (thats the Pat we all know). Loyalty goes a long way for some of us....but apparently not all of us....I will still wait for the whole story but for now Cherry seems too know more.If he simply got sulky over a trade then yes, time to stay out of front offices...but if the sabres didn't advise the Presdient and he found out thruogh the media I would't feel right working with that kind of ''team''. Not saying the President needs to ok it.....a GM should be able to GM , but they still need to advise those they work for or under...good owners trust the guys they hire...forner players that turn GM that we see as good GMs are given the autonomy to GM...we don't have that here with the Isles....put a Stevie Y here it would be the same thing...an owner calling everything. Pat could be a good GM...but not here....

This is a tough one because I really like Pat. He seems to be a great guy who has done a great deal for many people. Maybe Pat is not 100% at fault with this one? It just does not look good after what went down with the Islanders.

#ISLES TRANSACTIONS: Mike Halmo has been returned to @TheSoundTigers. Frans Nielsen has been removed from IR - http://nyisl.es/u9l2j

Edit...almost would rather see Halmo take McD's spot for a little while.

The Pittsburgh... Canucks rumour is exactly what we want for Vanek.

Sutter, 1st, and 3rd, plus Despres for Kesler.

Throw in a second next year and we can include AMac.
