Looking at the weather tonight it will be colder than dry ice balls in your shorts tonight in Chicago.

Real Feel temp of 3-4 degrees... Stadiums with that breeze and all of the frozen concrete/steel always feel even colder.
Glad I'll be watching it in HD sitting on my couch, with much cheaper beer The only drawback to that plan is that it will include Pierre McGuire. |

Sutter + Pouliot are far from crap. Excellent players for a mini-rebuild in Van. - Orpik44
Sutter doesn't do it for me.
Maata, Pouliot + 1st might though.
Gillis turned down that other offer, apparently. |

Kesler is not worth Määttä AND a 1st. Let alone adding Pouliot. Määttä is untradeable right now. |

That's fine. I'm just throwing out something I'd like, not saying it would happen. Sutter isn't what our team needs to replace Kesler, and reading your thread, you guys would be happy to get rid of him. |

Instead of offering sutter and pouliot could we offer Bennett and pouliot and play Kessler at rw with Sid while keeping sutter on the 3rd line? Haven't seen this discussed but i thought it makes sense. Obviously we'd have to add another piece but it makes our roster look stronger |

I understand everyones desire to see this team improve at the deadline but given the injury situation right now, I'm beginning to just think holding steady come next Wednesday is the best option.
If Sid, Geno, Fleury get hot, there's still a chance at the ultimate prize but I don't think the acquisition of one player makes us any more dangerous than we already are.
I mean if a Jokinen type deal is available then absolutely go for it but there is no magic bullet this year.
If Niskanen isn't in long term plans then I think his rights could absolutely fetch an early 3rd possibly a 2nd to the right team.... then you draft head to FA with the cap room available and become a stronger team next year.

The delusions of a site like this and a poster like you. You realize Vancouver would have to add a significant piece to that, right? Maatta is more valuable to Pittsburgh than Kesler. It is a distinct possibility Maatta is a top pair Dman next year for the Pens at 20 years old. He has a booming shot and is still developing into what could be a very valuable two-way defenseman.
It is delusional to think and unrealistic to think Maatta would be going anywhere soon, especially for what would be a guy that would play third line center in Pittsburgh if a deal happened.

Of course not, no one is saying that. A fellow penguins fan said Kesler is a third line centre and such is his value on the market. I said just because he's third line on the pens doesn't mean you can offer us crap. - Scooby_Doo
Most people with half a brain know where I was going with my comment. You on the other hand ...
It doesn't diminish his value. But, should Pittsburgh throw a tremendous package of assets for a guy that would be the third center on its roster? No.

Condescension aside, what you prioritize in your opinion doesn't make you smarter than other fans, it just makes you someone with a different opinion.
We understand what we'd be giving up in a trade, but we also know recognize that Shero hasn't yet traded away a prospect or a young player who has thrived elsewhere. This staff has been very good at identifying what they have, and what they feel comfortable in giving up.
I'd rather not trade away another first round pick, especially without a second this year, but I will withhold judgement. They went into last year's draft without a first or second, and ended up getting a 2nd for Kennedy, and traded that up to draft probably the best goaltender in the draft. - rival22
There is no condescension here. I worry about more things than most. I'm not lets make a trade for the sake of making one. I'm not lets collect all these high end names and the hell with the price. You call it a differing opinion, I call it concern for the present and the future, something that many posters don't care about. It's only the present in their minds. People should have a major concern with Shero's model as it stands now. Why? Because we won't have any assets left to deal in a short time if he does a major deal this season.
We don't have many assets, absent the normal high end names that would command a second round pick. Even if they deal the rights of Niskanen before the draft, you get a third or fourth round pick. That isn't a big deal. |

The point is genius ... if Kesler would be brought in as a third line center, there is ZERO sense keeping Sutter as a fourth line center, so he would be a natural to go back in a deal. It's not rocket science. One poster here detests him. That poster is a big Matt Cooke fan. That should put things into proper perspective.

I'm a jackass to delusional and unrealistic people like yourself that don't have one ounce of reading between the lines or a sense of reality.
Not figuring out what I meant regarding Kesler, as a third line center for Pittsburgh and asking for Maatta, Poiliot and a first for a quality player who is on the decline is ludicrous. By the way, remind me how Kesler did his first game back from the Olympics. I didn't see him in the boxscore. Sounds like he is injured, again. |
