with this trade the flyers have 0 chance if they even make it to the finals by some act of god
just (frank)ing trade people already homer

This trade, though, has nothing to do with Paul Holmgren.

This was the Blues saying that if they don't win it this year, the odds of that roster tuning out Ken Hitchcock next year are ASTRONOMICAL.

They couldn't lose to the Kings again in the playoffs because their goaltending doesn't hold up. They just couldn't, and they knew if it got down to it, Jonathan Quick wasn't going to give up more stoppable goals than Halak.

They had to pay that price, for a goalie they could believe in. When you have to pay, that's not the same with where Holmgren and the Flyers are, where we just got a new coach and it's not Cup or Bust.

Giradi locked up too. Not many options left on D for us at this point.

Give up assets to fix the blue line. It's the only way to do it.

Yes, depth but not the studs that will be in 2015

Would you trade our first this year, or take the best palyer available?

What do you offer?
- Deasr1

Hard to say, because I like each of our young guys a lot. It would be one of BSchenn, Laughton, or Read along with a pick(no 1st rounders, no 2nd rounders if it's BSchenn)

I dunno, I've never been impressed with Miller. I've never gone into a game vs buffalo thinking.. OMG Miller is impossible to beat. If he was over 40 and had a wooden leg, I'd start to worry.

BPA, we still are a ways away from having the system depth that I'd personally like to see.

Ehrhoff is totally going to get moved. Sabres are in full rebuild mode now. He'll be 35 by the time they're competing again.

I hope the Flyers are in on it. For the right cost.

You know, I agree with that -- you don't KNOW that Miller's going to hold up. It's not like he's Patrick Roy with Stanley Cup rings in his ears.

But he does have a .923 SVPCT on what is clearly one of the two worst teams in the league. Sometimes, you just gotta say "WTF" and go for it,

They've done well at finding some decent prospects after the first round over the last two drafts. I would like for that trend to continue.

If the Flyers aren't in on him they're out of their frigging minds. They blow draft picks on corpses, they better be on a dman who's not perfect but has a decent cap hit for what he offers.

How many Goalies can compare to Roy? One of the best to ever play. That is a great deal for the Blues.

We don't actually know if they're decent prospects yet, IMO.

Most likely they'll never see the ice as a Flyer.

Prospect by definition is a player that has potential to make the NHL. Prospect by definition doesn't mean assured of making the NHL.

I personally don't even give a crap about Gus. He's not going to be a star in the league, and he's barely a 3rd pairing guy on this team. Could he get better? Sure! Do I care if he does or doesn't? Not really. I'm ready to move on from the idea he may or may not get better.

I could see Gus as the 3rd pairing puck mover, with Ehrhoff as you're 1st, Streit as your 2nd.

No. We know they're decent prospects. We don't know if they're decent NHL players. Its important to have strength in numbers. Honestly, the Flyers are very fortunate to have their first round picks work out so well over the last 10 years.

It's a pretty simple distinction. A prospect doesn't have to make the NHL to be considered a decent prospect. It's why they're called prospects.
