Has to be cleared to play, so probably.

I do share your sentiments about Bryz though.

Vinny, Streit, Bryz, Briere... really wish they'd quit it with the July 1 fireworks.

That will never happen. I think the common ground between Homer and Snider is to sign FAs. Homer doesn't want to break up the young nucleus and Snider wants to win RIGHT NOW.

Retire with dignity… I wouldn't say the man is hurting for money.
- PhillySportsGuy

Pretty sure it's actually so he doesn't (frank) the Flyers over. Them being able to LTIR him takes his cap hit off the books during the season.

He retires, I'm pretty sure his hit stays on until his contract runs out, since it's 35+?

Im talking about if the Flyers had a CBO. Moot point because they don't and they wouldn't be able to use it on him anyway.

I made an error on the play.

They really need somebody in the GM seat who isn't so beholden to Snider's whims.

That's true....Pronger is doing the Flyers a favor by not retiring......then again he gets free $......his cap hit is regardless of his plaing or not.....over 35 rules....

Team play > Speed.

Problem with the Flyers, is their team game can fall apart at a moments notice, and the results can be catastrophic.

(btw: Rosehill is a pretty decent skater)

- Tomahawk

This is 100% accurate! Team play absolutely equals speed.

Can we just stop dissecting this team already? They're streaky, and inconsistent. Sometimes they play really well, other times, really horribly.

This is still a young team. This is still a team based around potential. Because of that, fans need to give proper space and time to allow this team to develop. They're going to have their ups and downs. Let's not forget that this team was on a four game winning streak heading into the break. But no, they get blown out two weeks after their last game and the sky is falling, the season is over, and everyone should be traded.

Sorry this team isnt a contender...Honestly, lets just say we get the 2 or 3 seed in metro...were probably playing the Rags who are a terrible matchup for us and its one and done....Not trying to be overally pessimistic, but we gotta start looking at the reality of the situation ahead of us
- nonpoint22

Just one simple question. Did you think they were a contender before the Season started?

1) Stop changing philosophies/identities every year,

2) Stop trying to solve every bump in the road with more/new/better players,

3) Make a 5-year plan and stick to it, hell or high water.

edit: 4) stop throwing the baby out with the bath water

That's the goal, but it's not a persona to get you there.

Like the Pens ride their star power, and LA/BOS dishearten you offensively while grinding you into the ground, and CHI/DET are going to win because they're never going to give you the puck, and NJ/NYR are all about contesting everything and out-working their way to wins.

The Flyers seem to have a finger or toe in all these philosophies, but when you consider everything, they're totally directionless in a sense.

- Tomahawk

I agree with this in a way. When they fired Stevens, they wanted a Coach who player more of a "hunt the puck" style. Well they got that with Laviolette, and had some success. Then it broke down and the team became terrible defensively, and didn't have the horses to play that style of Hockey.
Now Berube is here. And he wants more of a team game, and setting the tone defensively. Which is the style of play that a majority of the better teams in Hockey play. So I think they need some stability for a while, and a clear direction in how they want to play.

Looking at capgeek, they will have around 12.6 mill.

They need to ru-up Schenn, Raffl, Gus.

They can do that pretty easily IMO.

From there they will likely have about 8 mil to add 2 d-men and a backup goalie...

- jak521

And if I'm not mistaken, that does not include the LTIR exception for Pronger.
