Eventually, it's hard not to see Snider pissing more of his $ down the drain to make Vinny go away, either via retained salary transaction or ordinary course buy-out.

If you think they Flyers couldn't trade Vinny without retaining salary, then your nuts.

I'm not even sure.

What's your position on L. Schenn?

- Flyersgod

haha
The JvR trade didn't SEEM to hurt. JvR was on a season where he was injured quite often, and the team had more than enough offense during the regular season but their smallish defense got manhandled by the Devils. So, as is their way, they made a knee-jerk trade from a position of (seeming) strength for a big, physical defender who just needed a change of scenery. Just hasn't worked out in their favor, at least to date.

My opinion is that he showed glimpses all of last year that he can be a premier minute-eating shutdown defenseman. He's shown glimpses this year of being a complete liability. I think he's a capable second-pairing defenseman who, when used correctly, can usually play fiarly sound defense and isn't inept with making a first pass.

Did I ever tell you guys about the time I saw Jimmy Rollins hit a 3-pointer from the 50 yard line to win the Stanley Cup at the Kentucky Derby? It was one crazy night.

Yeah, that didn't really work out for Dallas (after the first 2 months, where it looked pretty good).

It was after his career in Philly, the second time... I was headed to spain at Philly air-port and I saw Iverson and Said hey Alan, I'm a big fan...which I'm not, but he was a celeb and I thought I would like to talk to him... He said... Thanks, you got a quarter so I can make a phone call, and pointed to a pay phone.

I said no... I mean who brings change wiht them through the air-port... damn metal detectors.

Serious question, why do people want Myers when we have L. Schenn? Myers is the same age as Schenn as has had the same career development. Flyers fans can't stand one Luke Schenn, are they really going to put up with two?

I'd say he's more of a Coburn than a Schenn.

yes lets sit schenn so he doesn't gain experience needed to become a decent NHL dman
- 2Real

Schenn's played in 414 games, hardly wet behind the ears. Do you think another 414 games would be required for him to be a decent NHL Dman?

Who is not well-favored here either.

This is what I'm talking about...fans want a change. They wanted a young defenseman, they got Luke Schenn. They were willing to get rid of JVR because he was always hurt, and never had the drive or the sustainability.

Now they've soured on Schenn and want another defenseman, who plays in Buffalo, nonetheless, and has been an embarrassment since his rookie season.

Myers is a different player. He has more offense.

He hasn't been bad for all 414 games. None of us expect him to become a #1 defenseman. Its not uncommon for defenseman to struggle with consistency in their mid 20s. We've seen Schenn play very well before.

Whats the alternative? Wait for a dman's value to sky rocket and give up a ton of assets to get him, only to have him forget how to play?

You buy low, sell high. Right? Myers is low right now. Will he ever be good again? I dunno. He's got a bigger ceiling than L. Schenn though.

I want the entire defense gone. So I don't really care who we get back or what not.

I want the team to make the playoffs because they are my team and also once you are in anything can happen. But I have to say part of me wants this team or whatever is left of this team to remember what it is like to miss the playoffs 2 years in a row. Also maybe it will finally make Snider realize things need to change. I am so sick of this bs that is this current team.

Not sure why everyone is so quick to want to sit Meszaros. He's got 17 points in 36 games played. I haven't looked, but that's probably the top point producer from the backend on the team if you take in account points per game.....

Luke Schenn, or Grossmann should sit before Mez does. Two turnover prone sloth's that bring zero offense.

- PLindbergh31

I'd sit Grossmann but Gus-Schenn has been a great pairing for months now. Meszaros-Schenn is a disaster waiting to happen.

The Maata thing was a joke. Pouliot was the real one I was asking about
- PhillySportsGuy

haha i figured. pouliot would be interesting. i dont have a real attachment to him yet. what ive seen ive liked but its been limited. supposedly hes really good offensively, and already excels at running a powerplay. depending on what happens with letang, he could be important. but read is already a youngish, establsih 25 goal two way player. thats quality in of itself
