I'm about ready to give up on Berube if this is true. Trade Meszaros for a 7th just to prevent this from happening again.

Gustafsson working with Gill and Meszaros with LSchenn which means Gus is likely out vs NYR

Mez is better all around than Gus. So it makes sense, to me. Gus won't get a real crack at the NHL with the Flyers. For whatever reason they just don't want to give him a full year.

Hold your panties in place. Mez needs to play every game to increase the offers on him. If this continues after the trade deadline then you can be miffed.

If Mez plays the rest of the year, and continues to play like he has this year, why not resign the guy?

I doubt they do. Mez has been spectacular for us in some seasons and seriously hurt in others. And while I wouldn't be miffed to see him re-signed, I honestly think we are going to need the cap space to throw at someone better.

Ha! It wasn't meant sarcastically. It's always nice when our rivals covet our players.

I must admit I haven't heard much splash about amazing D in free agency but that doesn't leave out a trade. And the best defensemen come with hefty contracts. Either way you'll need the space.

Funny that after the Flyers overvalued the crap out of him, he's disappeared completely.

Is he even in the NHL anymore? Dude was a complete turd of a dman.

Not sure why everyone is so quick to want to sit Meszaros. He's got 17 points in 36 games played. I haven't looked, but that's probably the top point producer from the backend on the team if you take in account points per game.....

Luke Schenn, or Grossmann should sit before Mez does. Two turnover prone sloth's that bring zero offense.

Luke Schenn is a young corner stone defenseman.

I'd do that trade over every day of the week. Three times on Saturday.

If JVR gets eaten by a shark this summer the trade is a wash.

Amen. It's not a cup team so anyone not in the future plans should be dealt. I just don't see Snyder doing it though.
This is why I have been clamoring to sell, move the UFAs to be out and get assets for them.

Steve Downie, Andrej Meszaros and Ray Emery all have some value. Kimmo Timonen would have a good deal of value. They could keep their good youngsters, pile up some assets to make deals at the draft or even to add systemic depth and emerge from this year really strong.

We should see if Nonis wants to undo Burkies mistake. Who would we have to throw in? Voracek?

We won't have much space TBH.

Giroux contract goes up 4.525m on the cap.
Read contract goes up 2.725m on the cap.
Coots contract goes up .825m on the cap.
Total Increase via raises: 8.075m

Timonen at 6m
Mez at 4m.
Downie at 2.650m
Emery at 1.650m
Gus at 1m
B Schenn at 2.24m (Don't know if this number is accurate)
Raffl at .1325m (Doesnt' seem right)
Hall at .600m
Total Decrease via expiring contracts: 18.725m

Net Gain: 10.7m (Not including increasing cap)

Increase of cap: 6.983m
Total Cap Space: 16.1m
Assuming they resign Schenn and Raffl, they'll still need to get a backup goalie or call one up etc. Only 4 dmen signed. Etc etc... bored to death now.

For some reason I can't delete characters and replace them with new ones. Just over writes any number/letter I place. I'm assuming you get where I was going =P

They will have plenty of wiggle room after filling out the roster.. Cap space will not be a problem.
