Yeah, very similar. If Read was a couple of inches taller, a few pounds heavier, and had an even snappier wrist shot, he'd be Sharp incarnate.

Maybe, I just think Sharp is a far superior player right now, However in Read's defense he hasnt had the time in the NHL, maybe he will turn into that...

So if Emery is injured for the game against the Rangers, will Heeter get called up? Can he play due to his suspension? Is his suspension over?
- PhillySportsGuy

Dollars to donuts it's Emery's hip.

Eventually, it's hard not to see Snider pissing more of his $ down the drain to make Vinny go away, either via retained salary transaction or ordinary course buy-out.
- Tomahawk

Ive been thinking about it and if they really want to make him go away they can offer to pay $1M of his salary for each season remaining. I think a few teams would be takers in that scenario.

The other thing I can think of is trading him for another team's overpaid player. Like a Vinny for Clarkson swap. I would think the Leafs would have to include something extra to make that happen.

Not saying I want Clarkson, it's more of an example.

Yeah, either way, I don't anticipate a happy ending. At best, it'll be like a Briere/Gagne push out the door.

I dont think he will take a big jump forward, but I do think you will see him kinda find a consistent role as opposed to jumping all over the lineup.

He is the don't fully know what you got till he's gone type of player. A lot like Sharp was ironically.

Will he ever be a PPG player like Sharp has (nearly) been the past few seasons? I doubt it, but with a more offensive line, and consistently playing with that group.. who knows.

If you put Sharp on a line with Couts and Downie and read on a line with Hossa and Toews, who would score more?

If your ok with a guy who is a top end 50 point player as one of your main building blocks then go for it...yes I would like my top end guys to produce a little more, but thats just me I guess.....not saying he is a bad player just not "top end" build around him player..
- nonpoint22

yeah. read sucks. you should totally trade him. maybe even in division if you have to just to get rid of him

I know. Sharp is a better player. His numbers also reflect the level of play around him as well.

I'm about ready to give up on Berube if this is true. Trade Meszaros for a 7th just to prevent this from happening again.

You cant win championships without these types of players, BTW
- missingmike

We traded one of those types of players for a guy who looks like Steve Downie but plays like a 50-year-old Theoren Fleury.

I see...while I think the chances of the Flyers and Pens trading anything is highly unluckily
