Though you have to admit they had the right idea to trade Vinny (don't remember whether Lawton was the GM at the time of the Montreal talks or whether Feaster was still GM). I mean all accounts indicate Bettman snubbed the deal because the two owners disagreed on it but the rumored names Montreal was willing to give up were INSANE in retrospect

How exactly would St Louis demanding a trade not be St Louis' fault? 1st off it's the player demanding a deal not the team. So that points to St Louis. It was Team Canada's selection committee that screwed St Louis, not the Lightning. Sure you can finger point to Yzerman, but last I checked a) there are 9 Canadians on the Lightning. Was he supposed to bring them all just because he's their NHL GM? I think not. b) Yzerman is not the Lightning. He's simply their GM. The Lightning are the 25 men that St Louis calls teammates and who he's now turned his back on. Why? Because his feelings are hurt that he wasn't selected to the Team Canada roster which has very little to do with the Lightning. It's stupid. Be mad at Yzerman and his selection committee, but for christ sakes man the (frank) up, be a professional, a teammate, and a leader. You're the Captain of the goddamn team you selfish, immature, lil wiener.

he's actually trying to move the website in the other direction i.e. legitimacy. in the last 18 months, the most idiotic bloggers have been let go and legit writers brought in (some with very high profiles.)

anyway, he has tamed down his circus routine in order for the website to seem like a legit avenue to discuss hockey.

...but every once in a while, ek shows his true understanding of the sport.
