It blows my mind how one person can be so blind in what they post, and be so wrong 100% of the time in any rumor he posts. Darren Dreger, Bob Mac etc have sources. Eklund you don't have sources. Regardless of rumors or sources there is no excuse to write crap like this "blog". If you are going to make opinions regarding NHL matters it would help if you show yourself to have even a little knowledge of hockey matters. Otherwise he would be better off concentrating on his "rumors" and leave the opinion stuff to the team bloggers who actually have some knowledge of the teams they are blogging about.

Ek, since this is "Brian Lawton's team" can you please include him on your rumor chart. Since he has done such a masterful job as Yzerman's "invisible assistant" I would think other teams would be offering the Bolts a ransom to trade for him.

-Ben Bishop... yeah, you mentioned him. Y still got him. So, there's that.

-Fillupula, Carle, Brewer were all brought in by Yzerman. Pretty big deal, there.

-Palat (#178th overall!), Gudas (!), Namestinikov, Kucherov, Gudlevskis, Vasilevskiy, Connolly, Erne... yep, pretty damned good drafting.

-I left out Drouin because he, Stamkos and Hedman should never be counted in the + column for a GM. Pretty damned obvious players to take.

-Brought in Cooper who has been spectacular. Boucher was a nice try, but just didn't have the total package as a coach.


Every GM inherits some pretty good players (and horrible mistakes) from their predecessors, but acting like Stevie Y hasn't done anything less than a great job of building out system and introducing stability to the franchise is just ridiculous.

If Marty wants a trade because he's still feeling butt-hurt over the Olympics and Stevie Y, then fine. Bye-bye.

A franchise is more than just a single player, no matter how good he is. It's a team game, not the Marty St. Louis show. If these rumours are true, to turn his back on the team thats battled by him every night is pretty nasty considering the success the team is having.

Oh, and how about the fans who have been paying his salary for over a decade? Giving up and potentially making our team weaker because of a millionaire-on-millionaire tiff over something (the olympics) most of us fans will never, ever...eeevvvveeerrrr... even get a sniff at in our normal, mundane, lives.

If this truly is the reason Marty wants out then I have lost a ton of respect for him.

thing is, you have to actually go through your paypal account to actually cancel your subscription or it will automatically renew itself, and there is no where on this site that you can cancel...that is so underhanded and enough for me to cancel...typical....but I was already 2 days into my renewal so I cancelled and it will expire within a year

It really is amazing. I'd tell you about it, but we were forced to sign a nondisclosure agreement. Besides, it's easy to make fun of the $20 I stupidly spent a year and a half ago, and unknowingly let automatically renew 6 months ago, but truth be told it's far from the worst $20 I've ever spent. Though, that could be because I make terrible life decisions.

Ek, question for you since you obviously want to question Yzerman's commitment to the Bolts organization. What did he do immediately following the Olympics? Oh that's right, resign from his duties with Team Canada. So yeah, his loyalty definitely is with the organization he just resigned from and doesn't lie with the organization he is still running.

As for scouting for Team Canada on the Bolts dime??? Last time I checked, his record as GM of the Lightning is quite exemplary. We have how many rookies playing or played for us this year (most the results of his excellent drafting) with our best prospects not even here (#1 ranked prospect group by multiple outlets). From where the Bolts were pre-Yzerman to where we are now is literally night and day. He has built a world class ORGANIZATION with the help of a very good owner and yet you question where his loyalty lies. Sorry Ek, but you probably should think about this before you write crap like that. Ban me all you want but you are way off-base with this.

On the other hand MSL is and has been treated like a "god" in this city. He is loved by the fans and rarely if ever questioned. But here he is in the final stages of what could/should be a playoff run and he's requesting a trade b/c of something that happened that didn't involve the Lightning. Talk about a lack of loyalty to an organization.

If they consider that post "mocking" regardless of my $20 contribution then I am at a complete loss. That was simply a post regarding Yzerman's contributions to the Lightning organization that for some reason Ek believes Brian Lawton is/was responsible for. If I need to go down the Bolts roster to familiarize Ek with the background for who drafted and/or signed the current players I would be more than happy to. However (spoiler alert), I have to add if I do spend the time to do such it won't be good for Ek's "Brian Lawton's team" argument

If Marty wants to come to Long Island, I'd welcome him any day of the week.
