I think the sheltering as gone long enough. They need to promote him to center, give him more icetime, and make that idiot Eller warm the bench.

Also, kind of felt bad for Brière (I know, I'm surprised too). 2 goals, 1 assist with limited icetime...I would have given him some time on OT too. Give him some rope, see if he hangs himself with it, or does something good.

It's all about giving icetime to veterans and the DD line.

I'm slowly getting tired of some of Therrien's decisions.

I know Subban dropped the puck and made a bonehead play, but he's still your best goddamn player. You don't have to bench him everytime he tries something and fails.

How is Galchenyuk supposed to take giant steps forward if he's not put in situations where he'll learn? I'm fine with slowly moving him up the lineup but ffs, not even a shift in overtime? 2 games in a row?

And I'm not a fan of Brière, hell I (frank)ing hate his guts, but when the guy gives you two goals and an assist during the game, you'd expect to see him play a little when the game is on the line no? Isn't it why he was hired in the first place? To score clutch goals when we needed it?

And i'm done.

i think that Subban, in his 4th year, having won a Norris, and rarely making errors based on laziness like the one last night (they're usually mental errors or over-aggressiveness) has earned the opportunity to redeem himself after he makes those errors. he's not 21 anymore. and this team's dearth of skill means it doesn't have the luxury to play hard ball with guys like Subban and AGal. why is Subban subject to such tough love, yet Lars (frank)ing Eller, 4 points in 31 games, takes a penalty that leads to the 5-4 goal then gets 2 shifts in OT?

He is, he's not a bad coach overall.

But there are certain things he does, some about what could be considered the most important assets of the team, that I think could be handled differently/better.

This being said, I realize it's easier said than done.

I'm all about accepting that Subban will make mistakes, but it must at least look like he's learning from them. That turnover yesterday was horrible, just a blatant selfish move, cleary was trying to show off to that crowd who was booing him, while his teammates were waiting for him at the blueline.

Not last night he wasn't. As for Briere the answer is no you don't want to see him 4-4 vs Crosby and Malkin

exactly, that's why I'm not on the "fire Therrien" bandwagon. I think the whole coaching staff is doing a good job.

it's not the mistake that got him benched, it's the selfishness. PK will learn...just got to remind him from time to time

That play deserved a benching IMO. To MT's credit, he put him out for the PP. But seeing Murray and Gorges paired together in OT was a touch scary.

I thought he should've pulled Budaj after the first for obvious reasons. Guess he made the right call there.

We have an average coach with an average roster...only the ghosts of former habs great have allowed the habs to be a bit higher than average in the standings.
