happy to say I missed the 1st two periods. Sure looks like a clusterf*ck in the 2nd.

Give up first goal... check.
Brutal giveaway by Grossmann... check.
Mason pulled prematurely... check.
Inexplicably idiotic penalty by Hartnell... check. - Tomahawk
Coburn looks like he forgot defensive positioning over the break. Really ugly period there. |

I'll settle for some close coverage. How many goals scored directly in front of the net that period? - MJL
I think every goal has been. Its infuriating. This team is built to clear the front of the net. I can live with the limited offensive play from this group, but leaving so many guys uncovered in front of the net is unacceptable. |

The first period was great. If I had turn it off after the first my wall wouldn't have a hole in it |

Well that's a little of an exaggeration. But yea, the pass was well off the mark.

leaving the slot wide open isn't working so far
they need a new strategy |

How did we go from the euphoria of a 2-1 lead after one period to the depression of a 4 goal deficit after two periods? - PhillySportsGuy
Flyers hockey!!!
I guess the Olympic break gave you amnesia. |

I disagree, we just need to stick with the no coverage strategy and eventually it will work out. |

yeah, I caught some of the 1st on the radio ... and it sounded like they played pretty well, at least after a slow start.
but, holy sheet ... what an ugly 2nd.

I'm starting to wonder if he can be effective at wing. If the answer is no, and I'm afraid it is, and they're determined to keep Schenn at center, then the only solution is VL has to go.
This really has nothing to do with tonights game, VL has looked bad wing night in and night out and after playing center his entire career I'm not sure its fair to expect anything else. - BiggE
Or move Schenn to wing? The kid is still young, should be able to adjust better to playing the Wing then VL.
At some point the Flyers will have to either move a young center to wing or trade one.
Our younger centers...
Giroux
Schenn
Coots
Laughton
None are considered to be 3rd line centers, right?

I feel its a lost game, but they need to play hard and play well in the third. If that happens, they can move on and chalk up the loss to a horrendous 2nd period.
Cant discount it, but it will be easier to bounce back from if they win the third and not fall further behind. |

I was expecting a sloppy game, first game most of these guys have played in 19 days. But San Jose's talent level will pick you apart if you play fundamentally horrible hockey.
The Flyers are making dumb passes, blowing routine coverages, allowing the Shark to dominate the low slot and areas around the net...perfect recipe for a loss. |

I agree. Its scary to think what this team will look like when they get Hertl back. |
